Awesome turnout for the TZC this year. Going to a record breaking year..

This thread is to post corrections of PPD.
If you have under or over estimated your PPD please post here not in the TZC Challenge Thread, and we can correct before the start of the Challenge.

Looking forward to some friendly, or maybe not so friendly competition, throwing some great points around and simply some great fun with you all.
Bring on the TZC and some records.

Cheers
Steve

Still getting a good average on the new GPU's, and still pretty new to competitive folding.  This is what I'll have to throw into the fray for Central:

    x2 GTX 1080 FTW
    x1 Core i7 5820k @ 4.4 Ghz
    x1 GTX 780 Superclocked
    x1 Core i7 920 @ 3.3 Ghz

Looking at the estimates over the past 5 hrs or so, it looks like about 1.5M ppd.  Does that seem about right?

I think that would be ~1.5 - 1.8 Million PPD, so an average of 1.5M seems to be OK.

I think I've underestimated by 100-150k ppd. I estimated 500k but seems over 600k is likely.

    ammskore, PPD looks good,

yodap, 100k underestimate not a big deal, 1million is something we would need to correct.

I filled out a corrected entry form last week (the previous one was done before my card got 'broken in' so to speak).  Previously, I had put down an est. of 50K PPD, but now, judging by my weekly production (driver issues notwithstanding), 200K seems more accurate

PC Build (early 2009 - gaming only)
    Antec Twelve Hundred - Win10 x64
    eVGA X58 SLI - Core i7 920 (bumped to 2.80GHz) - 6GB DDR3-1066
    WD Black 640GB/7200RPM - Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD

    Asus GTX 1060 OC (3GB) - HT Omega Striker 7.1 - Asus VH222H 21.5"

    Workhorse (gen. purpose)

I'll try and update if i get some more accurate figures closer to the start date. Just let me know when you will stop taking corrections and I'll have it in by then. I don't have the same setup pumping all the heat outside like i used to, so it certainly heats the place up. I tried turning on a couple rigs the other day to make sure they still work okay, but the place got so hot that the old lady made me shut them all down =]. I really cant argue this one though, walking into a 95 degree living room first thing in the morning isn't something either of us would want to deal with lol.

Last year she enjoyed watching the TZC so she may let me turn them all on again and we will put box fans in all the windows, but we will see.

I'll be folding on anywhere from 0-3 GTX 1080 FTWs, so I'd like to narrow down what my PPD will be, but it may be subject to things like the electric bill and how cold it gets outside as to how many GPUs I can have running. That said, my current estimate of 750k is the best I may be able to offer for now, but wanted to give a heads up that it might not be all that accurate (likely higher than lower however if things go well)

Hope you are able to get most up and running.

    What issues were you having??

Thanks for responding to my PM here, triharder21.

That is a lot of hardware you have there!!!
Your 2x 980Ti's should do ~1,200k PPD total (~600k each), so we could at least use that for your estimated PPD.

Do you think that you can fold on your AMD cards during the contest, because that would be awesome.
Here is a list of the PPD's for the cards you have (I've used OCN GPUs database), so you can go from there to see how many cards you could run during the contest and calculate how much total estimated PPD you could produce.

      2x  980 Ti   =  total  ~1,200k (~600k each)
    12x  R9 280x  =  total  ~1,800k (~150k each)
    16X  R9 390   =  total  ~4,800k (~300k each)
      8x  RX 480   =  total  ~2,400k (~300k each)

Not sure I would start them up and the fah client would just lock up the entire unit. Was trying to set them up as nodes but they just keep locking up. Guessing it's something to do with the cpus as they are dual cores and fah requires more HP to hand out tasks. I was hoping to go balls to the wall this year but...... we shall see I will be putting together a 16 core 32 thread docker/ virtualization/ media server/ backup theory build maybe halfway through this event it may have a few 1070s ;) in it so if I can get fah going in a container. I'll for sure point it at the TZC.

That sure looks like not enough CPU cores and/or maybe also not enough system Memory to get a Core21 WU started.
From what I have read, AMD GPUs do not need one CPU core (edit: for each card) constantly, like NVidia GPUs do, but when a new Core21 WU starts it needs one CPU core and up to 3.5 GB system Mem when it's initializing.  Once the WU is running it will settle down to ~1 GB system Mem or lower and also for AMD cards a low CPU usage.

I think it's best to go with your 2x 980Ti cards and 1,200k estimated PPD for now, if that's OK with you.
And hopefully you will be able to start up a few more GPUs during the contest (1070 are great cards for folding).

To bad I have two computers down right now trying to get at least one more up that would add two 980 Hydro Coppers to the mix.

Hi, first time TZC'er here. Been folding only for around a week now and about to pass the 1,000,000 point mark on my new 1070 SC.

How important is it to have entered the correct "estimated PPD" in the registration? I entered 500,000 as a loose guess, but depending on the WU that number can change. For instance right now I am folding project 9206 (core #21) and PPD estimate for this unit is 815,491PPD. I've seen estimated PPD around 500k for some units

The estimation is more of an art than a science.  500k PPD might be a little on the low side for a 1070 SC as I think they tend to get closer to 600k PPD on average if you run it 24/7...but the 815k is certainly an outlier and not something that is sustainable.  I'm no expert, track your individual stats on EOC and see what you get over a period of time:

Be careful with the results on OCN GPU PPD database, because I know that some of their own members complained about the fact that people mostly entered high PPD (projects) results for their cards (it became a bragging list), so it is not always a real average/balanced GPUs PPD database.  And also keep in mind that a lot of the results are from Linux systems, which also have ~10% higher PPD than Windows systems.

I'm a Linux noob, but if you can get your dedicated Folding systems running on Linux (which sometimes can be a challenge from what I've read),  I would certainly try it.

I used it as a guideline for the most part, it doesn't give  complete system specs or any other information.(operating system) They also seem to be using the PPD estimate given by the Folding estimate anyway. Which in itself does not allow for upload issues (cannot connect to server = lowered points, etc. etc. etc.) and pretty much incorrect from my results. In my case with the 1060s I took the user reported PPD and took off 10% since mine are the 3gb version. That gave me somewhat of an idea of where they might be without having them running. After doing that and actually running them 24/7 (Oct 23 to current day) you can see the results vary by what they report (I'm assuming the results they show are a 6gb version) obviously because of project and all the other factors they leave out.

    TL;DR
I use it/ suggest it as a guideline to get an idea of what the GPU might produce. YMMV!

    EDIT:
Back in the good old days I remember when Tech sites (one of them did IIRC) used to actually run Folding on the "new" cards and post the results. Not so much anymore, it's all about E-peen OC and OMG they are running hot on a STRESS test.
