Video card - EVGA GeForce GTX 950 2GB FTW GAMING, Silent Cooling Graphics Card 02G-P4-2958-KR

Motherboard - 970A-G46 lates bios version  2016-01-08

I tried Fresh install, updated bios, newest graphic card drivers and im currently running out of solutions.

I just bought this card about a month ago brand new. The only display i have is through hdmi port with my tv. For some odd reason the DVI port isn't picking up any display. The weirdest thing is that on my Nvidia Control Panel it picks up the 2nd monitor but, it goes straight to power saving mode when i try to extend the display. any ideas or suggestions?
tired of using my tv as my main display. I'm trying to get my actual monitor to work.

please help

Just a quick question, do you have the power cable plugged into the GPU?

I find it odd that the GPU goes into power savings mode when you extend the display What happens when you only have just the monitor plugged? And just the display? Are you sure the TV you're using supports the resolution you're trying to run at? +

theirs no display on my monitor when it's plugged in itself. i tried multiple monitors with DVI and with a DVI converted to VGA. Well I would assume so, because that's the only way i can get any signal out of my video card is with my hdmi port.
    TV - 1366x768

I also tried lowering the res manually to the lowest and still same issue "power saving mode"

I take it you're getting an image on the TV but not the monitor? Power saving mode means exactly that, power savings mode meaning that it's not getting sufficient power so it goes into power savings, kind of like a laptop low on battery or trying to save power. Can you double check the plug on the GPU is plugged in right, or do you have another plug you can try? Do you have another power supply around?

What resolution is the monitor? You tried using a straight cable to the monitor correct? DVI or HDMI while using no adapter?

monitor - 640x480 to 1920x1080 i tried every single res. yep i tried a straight cord DVI to DVI. nah i have an adapter that converts my DVI port to a VGA & my hdmi to hdmi witch only my tv has a port for that.

my psu doesn't happen to have an 8pin that fits the video card. I have to use the 8pin converter it came with. do you think that might be  the problem?

thing is you do see a lot of complaints on this  with 900 cards and the ports bad  like dvi-I not working  or hdmi not working  ?    if you cant find a resolve may be a lemon card  ?

yea that's the one connected to the card 6pin but I'm using a converter makes an 8 pin because my power supply doesn't have standard 8pin by itself.

So you are then using the 6-Pin Y-Adaptor to 8-Pin to plug into your GTX 950 Card.
Do you have Both 6-Pin Power Cables plugged in on the Y-Adaptor?
Are you also saying that your Power Supply has no 6-Pin +2 Pin Cable as well?

yes the power supply does have the 6-pin +2pin but, it doesn't sit properly to the video card and the other 8pin sits on the JPWR-2. The current pin i use for my video card is the extra 6-pin (which i use the converter to make it 8-pin)

Sounds like the cable/output is faulty. Have you tried doing a clean install of the latest graphics drivers after cleaning out your old ones with ddu?

I wonder if he not putting the plug in proper?   each socket as you can see form the picture above is  keyed  only to fit  the matched female   socket on the card ??     maybe like trying to put the 6  pin side where the 2 pin should go ??     I had one guy force  one  in like that   when all he needed to do was move the plug over 2 holes ???   just never know   dang sure chewed up the plastic

The fact it's making him go into "power savings mode" is the biggest clue here. There has to be something wrong with that power supply.

I forgot to add this about the  ''standard ''   pci-e  plug as you say   also show about the  pinout not correct

''i see now  ??   i got out my spare seasonic  pci-e leds and looked at it and funny the 2 pin part of mine are 1 square and  one rounded  just like shown on the card you posted  but i see the evga  is 2 rounded  ??  wow''

''The fact it's making him go into "power savings mode" is the biggest clue here. There has to be something wrong with that power supply. ''

that's a point but then why display on one port but not the other  ??  [form op?? ]  ''  The only display i have is through hdmi port with my tv. For some odd reason the DVI port isn't picking up any display.

may just come down to  that 1 in 10,000  cards that has a port issue  with in the 900 series  ??

you see it all over the place ??
