I have an old 2005 AMD Opteron rackmount server by HP just laying around in my garage, I was wondering if it was worth firing it up and putting it to use for a dedicated folding system on Bigadv or any program that supports 2x Dual core opteron 64s. I would have to buy DDR SDRAM for it though. I'm wondering if this is too slow for even bothering with it, or would it actualy benefit the use ? Thanks

NOTE: I also have a few Pentium 4 HTs laying around as well, can they be used ? I know we're talking about 03' hardware here, but I thought I'd ask. Thanks again

i also have a dual socket opteron server mobo currently running with dual /dual core opteron CPU. it is my file server ruinning ubuntu OS. and the PPD is about 1400PPD on the a3 wu. -advmethods flags

Unless you have the RAM on hand, i would not built it for folding since the price of EEC DDR SDRAM is not cheap for the performance of PPD
also P4 is about 225PPD . that is what my mom is using at her house. lol

Yea wow, thats totaly not worth it then, the price of ram, would be better off buying another GPU and folding with that. Thanks for your reply though. Maybe ill just ebay this stuff, its not doing any good left in a box.

Well I need Rack Mount Servers and an old HP AMD 2 CPU (Model Year 2004) to help out a local church repair the one they have now.
But thank you, you should get another Xeon and run WCG Tasks.
I still have a working PE 2800 that came out in 2005 and it is setup as my backup web server.
