Hi,

Ever since I bought this GPU (evga gtx 680) it had it's problems with random crashing. It wasn't very severe, and I thought it was a problem with the games I played and not so much with the card itself.

But over the past few years the amount of crashes increased. And i'm currently up to the point that the card even crashes 1 a 2 min in game... This happens in almost every game. The crash itself is a very annoying one; the screen freezes followed up audio freezing aswell, no error and only the power buttons work. With most games my entire PC just stops responding, with some games only the game instance crashes and then, and only then, I see an error that my GPU driver crashed/GPU stopped responding etc etc.

Yesterday was the moment I realised my card might be dying/getting too old.. I was playing League of Legends all day without any problems, but in the evening I started crashing in game, all of a sudden my card refused to play League londer then 1 a 2 minutes.. (Even though I can completely understand why he refused to play League :P)
I'm always running with EVGA Precision and Task Manager on my other screens so I can monitor the temps, CPU/Mem usage , but nothing seemed wrong there. So after 5 crashes I turned off Anti-Aliasing, and it stopped. It stopped crashing... But it is not only with league and it is not always solved with turning off AA.

My system:
- Intel Core i5 3570k
- MSI Z77A-G43
- GTX 680 ( I believe the superclocked version )
- 8GB Corsair Ram 2 x 4 Dimms
- Windows 10 Pro

Does this sound familiar to anyone or does someone know a fix for this?

Make/model/age of psu? Have you tried running the card in debug mode to see if it helps stop the crashing?

The psu is a 'Be quiet! Pure Power BQT L8-cm-530W', a little over 4 years old. Since I don't know how reproduce the error, it will take some time to see if it helps the crashing, but I will most definitely try it out . Thanks for your response! :)

Best thing to do at this point would be to test the card in another system to see if you can replicate the crashing. Using your card in another computer that isn't having any issues will let you know if your card is defective or not.

    Alright, reviving this topic!

Just bought myself a new PC and was wondering if the gtx 680 would crash again.
    It did..

The only way that seems to reduce the crashes is setting it in debug mode.

Never OC'ed the card so I guess a faulty card? Since the card is already close to 4yrs old the warranty is expired, but I still like to know what the problem was all those years.
