  • Congratulations to Central, Pacific and Other Time Zones for completing the 2016 Time Zone Challenge!
  • All teams have now completed the 2016 Time Zone Challenge and the contest has officially come to an end
  • Please make your prize selections in the thread posted by Punchy (see the announcement from 11/11) - in order to receive a prize you must select your preferred prizes
  • Everyone who is able is both welcome and encouraged to continue folding with us through the end of the month as we try to set a new monthly points record!
    • 5 billion should be relatively easy to achieve with the big numbers we've put up at the start of the month
    • 6 billion might be a bit of a stretch given that bucks folders will begin falling off soon and some of our crunchers are going to turn their efforts to a PG challenge soon
    • This team has never ceased to amaze me in what it can accomplish, so I certainly wouldn't rule anything out...
  • Thanks to all those who generously donated individual prizes or contributed to the GPU pool
    • I would love to name you all individually, but given the magnitude of generosity on this team there are simply too many people to thank
  • Thanks to drougnor for providing the stats - this go round proved a little more challenging than some others, but you pulled through in pimpin style as always
  • Thanks to DutchForce for collecting the donations for the GPU Pool - no one is more qualified nor could have done a better job handling it
  • Thanks to DutchForce notfordman and HK-Steve for helping out behind the scenes and helping this contest one of our most successful
  • Thanks to Punchy for once again helping out with the prize selection - its quicker, more exciting, and exponentially easier for everyone than doing it manually
  • Most importantly thank you to everyone that folded in this contest!  Whether it was a few points as you are able or a steady blast of points that carried your team, without you guys we have nothing but a bunch of empty web pages we're staring at...best folding team in the world!
11/11/16
  • Thanks to incredibly generous donations by puns4life, Gunsvnvmc, wizanhi, Stephenish, soullesshunter, ipkha, volt2amp, Eric1285, olddanit and an anonymous donor we have a sixth EVGA GTX 1070 SC ACX 3.0 to give away
  • Donations for the GPU pool will remain open until next Friday 11/18/16
  • If we do not make it to add another cards we may be able to upgrade one of the 1070s to a 1080

11/11/16
  • The prize selection process has begun!  For more information please carefully read and follow Punchy's instructions found here: http://forums.evga.com/2016-TZC-Prize-Preference-selection-process-m2580936.aspx
  • Prize selection must be completed by Friday 5 PM Eastern Time 11/18/16
    • Entries beyond this time frame will only be accepted if the prize drawing has not yet taken place
  • Donations for individual prizes are now closed as they can no longer be added to the prize list
  • Donations for the GPU pool remain open (we can easily add another GPU to give away)
  • The time and date of the prize drawing will be announced next week at least 24 hours in advance
  • You will have the opportunity to watch the prize drawing live if you would like to see as soon as possible if you've won or you want to verify things are on the up and up
11/11/2016
  • Congratulation to Eastern and Mountain Time Zones on winning the 2016 Time Zone Challenge!!
  • Information on the prize selection process should be posted soon!
    • You will have a week to select the prizes you prefer, with the drawing to take place next weekend.
    • Keep an eye out for details from Punchy on prize selection.
  • The contest should officially come to an end this evening when CPO is projected to cross the finish line.
11/5/2016
  • We're nearing the halfway point of the contest and so far we've put up some incredibly impressive numbers as a team!
  • The prize distribution process will begin next weekend, the weekend of November 12th.
    • Please check the folding section of the forums for more information about the prize distribution at that time.
    • You will have a week to select the prizes you prefer to win.  You are responsible for checking the forums and following the process.
  • Donations for individual prizes and the GPU Giveaway Pool remain open until the prize selection has begun.  If you haven't donated already, you are encouraged to join the incredibly generous spirit this team has in giving back to the community!  Donations of all shapes and sizes are appreciated.
11/1/2016
  • The 2016 TZC is underway - fire up those rigs and burn through those WUs!  Lets have some fun and break some records
  • An issue where the zero point was improperly set caused several hours of WUs prior to the official start of the TZC to be improperly counted as contest points
    • Basically, I made an inadvertent change to drougnor's stats system that caused a minor issue and when he fixed the issue he was unaware it threw off the zero point by 5 hours
    • Fixing the error has decreased the points for approximately half of the contest folders and set both team back around 5 to 7 million points
    • The full impact can be found here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1GB1ecLcG6feURFLBdAL8CyaTUXsdV9BFMi_Ceg1TnXg/edit#gid=0
    • Thanks to DutchForce for following up and investigating this issue and drougnor helping to track down the issue
    • I apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this has caused
10/31/16
  • This year we will continue to track the traditional teams progress as we have in the past EvCvMvPvO, though the main event will a combined race Eastern and Mounatain v Central, Pacific and Other
    • Syberius81 (who lives in ETZ but is currently deployed abroad) has been moved to the Eastern Time Zone
    • Estimated PPD EM: 53,595,423
    • Estimated PPD CPO: 52,979,001
    • While these are only estimated predictions and unforeseen events and contingencies will inevitably arise (as the do every contest) it is projecting to be a very close race!
  • The new finish line target for the combined teams is 600 million points!
  • We've set a challenge to fold 5 billion points as a team in the month of November!  This would be a tremendous milestone to reach for the first time as well as a large 67% growth over our target of 3 billion points last year!
  • Throughout the contest donations of both individual prizes and the Pascal GPU donor pool will continue to be accepted until the prize distribution process has begun.  This team has a history of incredible generosity and this year is no exception!!  I am somehow always amazed by the new heights of generosity of this team reaches as well as the things it can accomplish together!  If you've got some unused hardware, games etc to give away or a few dollars to spare we're happy to accept any contribution!
  • The contest kicks off at 12:00 AM Eastern Time - that is any points contributed after 12:00 AM for all contestants will be counted toward the contest.
    • The stats may or may not be up and running until the following morning (depending on whether drougnor or I are able to zero them out at 12:30 AM local time) but all points will be counted from the starting point..
  • You're more than welcome (and perhaps even encouraged) to have a bit of good-natured fun at each other's expense, but keep in mind that at the end of the day this is only a contest and we're all on the same team: folding to cure some horrible diseases.
  • Fire up those rigs and churn out those WUs - may the best team win!
10/30/16
  • Keep in mind that registration ends tonight and anyone that registers after 9 PM tonight may not get into the contest as we need time to get the teams, stats, and website up and running.
  • Get ready to fire up those folding rigs - the 2016 Time Zone Challenge kicks off at midnight tomorrow!
10/26/16
  • Thanks to incredibly generous donations by Shifttfreeride, Torell, forgotengamer26, JoeSpaz101, ammskore, yatz10 and AcesofDeath7 a fifth EVGA GTX 1070 SC ACX 3.0 to give away.  Also, we are well on the way to adding another card!
  • What an incredibly generous and amazing Team we have!!!!

10/24/2016
  • We've got almost 160 people signed up so far for this year's TZC!
  • The sign up period is ending soon!  6 more days to register before the official registration is over (you are subject to the whims of drougnor on last minute registrations).
  • Get out there and spread the word and invite someone to fold with us for the challenge!
  • A little over 7 days before we kickoff the challenge, start counting points, and obsessively refreshing the contest stats page...
10/12/16
  • Thanks to incredibly generous donations by Mekhed, AzN-SoLjA, xshurikx, c6vette, species, robbysites and Shifttfreeride we have a fourth 10xx GPU to give away, an EVGA GTX 1070 SC ACX 3.0.  Also, we are more than halfway to adding another card!

10/3/2016
9/30/16
  • Thanks to incredibly generous donations from Mektaculr and tanner2 we have a third10xx GPU to give away - another EVGA GTX 1070 SC ACX 3.0
9/29/16
  • Thanks to incredibly generous donations from yodap, mflanaga and Syberius81 we have a second 10xx GPU to give away - a second EVGA GTX 1070 SC ACX 3.0
  • Also note that donations of all sizes are incredibly useful and will go a long way to getting a 3rd GPU to give away!
9/28/2016
  • Thanks to the incredibly generous donations of Notfordman, DutchForce, HK-Steve, and olddanit we now have our first 10xx GPU to give away.  DutchForce has told me it will be a EVGA GTX 1070 SC ACX 3.0
9/26/2016
  • In 2009 Zerran2001 created the inaugural Time Zone Challenge Folding contest for EVGA's folding team.  This year we hope to continue the tradition of good-natured fun and trash-talking among our team in a contest that is bigger and better than ever!
  • The 2016 Time Zone Challenge will begin on Tuesday Nov 1st at 12:00 AM Eastern Time
  • Prize donations are currently being accepted.  Prizes are a fun way to encourage and reward contest participants or pass on old or unused hardware to reward a fellow folder.  Members of EVGA's folding team have a history of generous donations to folding contests - let’s keep that tradition alive!
  • This year we are also hoping to give away as many of the new 10xx series GPUs as we possibly can for this contest!  Recognizing that not many people have the resources to give away a GPU, we have set up a donation pool.  Any donation, big or small will be combined with the donations of other teammates to purchase new GPUs that will be given away at the end of the contest to blaze through whatever WUs Stanford throws at us!
    • The quantity and model(s) of GPUs will be determined by the donations received.
    • Given his history of incredibly generous donations through many many contests here as well as a strong knowledge of GPU folding I have enlisted DutchForce to collect donations and oversee this process (luckily he was happy to oblige).
  • Registration/sign up for the 2016 TZC will open sometime next week (a little closer to the contest start date)
  • As always, we are looking for anyone willing to help out with putting this contest together.  They take a large amount of time an energy to organize and any help you can provide is greatly appreciated (absolutely no prior experience is necessary!).  Please shoot me a PM if you are interested in helping out.
  • Thanks once again to drougnor the stats PIMP for providing us with detailed hourly stats updates as well as DutchForce and notfordman for their work behind the scenes in helping this contest come together!

Thank you Troy, for being our fearless folding team leader. I appreciate all the time and effort you give and have given through the years. Also a big shout out to all the people that help organize behind the scenes. We wouldn't have this contest without you guys. I'm so glad it's contest time again!!!

Ah I want to retire this secondary 560ti for something else for folding lol. Been on the edge wanting a replacement but not overpowering my 780ti lol.
1060 3gb? Hows that sound fellas? A good folder and overkill physX card? haha
I would love to start folding again soon and when this starts sounds like a good time to do so.

Well because my new GTX 1070 Hybrid would not fit in my new server, bummer I really wanted this install this week.
So I am using the Step-Up to get at Plan Jane GTX 1080 to install in my T630.
I do not think I will have it in time for this event but I still will have some old GTX 980 Cards and them old AMD R9 290x Cards.

I bet, I was going to keep it and put in in my old GTX 690 Rig but I really have to reduce my overhead on the Power that I am using for Folding & Crunching. New Hardware overall is reducing my Elect Cost per month now.
It is packed back in the Box ready to ship back to EVGA, I did not even power it on.

With any luck you should get your 1080 before the contest starts.   Err...wait, you live in Mountain!??!   I'll see that I won't ship out til the end of November...

I'm trying to add a second 1070 myself before the contest, about 1/2 way there so far between funds available and EVGA Bucks.

You know I'm down for tossing out some more points. My twin 1070's are feeling barely broken in and they need to stretch their legs some more! And thanks to the missus giving me an early X-Mas present, I might even be able to get my 970 in on the comp this time around!

Oh, yeah, before I forget, I'll be Pimpin' it EAST SIDE!!

Just dropped an open invitation into a small gathering of old PimpRig members to see if any of them want to join in for the contest and hopefully continue on with our team. *knocks on wood* The woman who convinced us to start folding in the first place was a fine speaker on the needs for us to donate our time to the cause, and I hope her lessons have stuck with the others as well as they have for me.

I could probably set my main system to run for a few weeks. The high power bills are destroying my bank, and I haven't been folding as hard lately lol.

Luckily I'm still in the Eastern Time Zone if not near the coast anymore.  This ones always fun, can't wait.  Of course I fold most of the time anyway.

I might have to pick up another card. Just have to slip it in the old lady's rig without her noticing.

I'm currently on a US Army base in Kuwait (Arabia Time Zone UTC +3:00).

Should I use that time zone or my home of record which would be East Coast US?
