I just ordered Nateman Doo's FTW K full copper water block set for my X99 FTW K motherboard.

I realize his price was higher than potential other commercial offerings, but I love the way his look, and I love more that this is a guy who has worked hard, does a good job, and supports these boards as much out of enthusiasm as commercial interest, and I'm willing to support that. I also realize that my system doesn't actually need the chipset and VRM modules to be water cooled. It's doing just fine with those parts on air. EVGA's motherboard chipset cooling system works well. That being said, this project has been my monster PC project, I've already made a freaking beast out of it (i7 6900 with 1080 graphics? LOL), so I may as well go all the way and be 100% under water. After all, the point of my new wood case design was to provide a massively overkill water cooling solution. This just ties into that.

I'm expecting to get my new wood case about 90% complete this weekend. I'll post some pics as I get more progress done this weekend. I say 90% because I doubt I'll get to the point where I'm applying the tolex covering. I hope to have it structurally at 99% complete this weekend though. There are a couple of water-cooling fittings that I need to order that pertain to providing a fill port and some drain ports, but that's OK, I have the time.

I definitely want to see the case you build. I hope you like Natemans blocks, he makes some great stuff.

I'm assuming he's got the low profile down, and that the spot where the PHC block has its water fittings is indeed stuck right in between slot 1 and slot 2, because I was just looking at my mobo again last night and that PHC heatsink is literally right under my PCI-E cards.

I've found a place locally that does commercial metal plating, and they are willing to do electroless nickel on the Nateman blocks when they arrive. It'll probably be more expense than it's worth, of course, but then again chipset/VRM blocks aren't needed anyway with a good board. We do it for other reasons.

WOW, an all Nickel Nateman block, sounds pretty awesome!  I have his blocks on an older board, and I love them.  I got them on my X79 Dark, and I cannot say enough good things about how well they work, and the FTW-K board is my favorite board in our lineup right now, and one of the best we have done ever IMHO, so that should be a pretty awesome setup.

I need to check my mail and see if they showed up that way. I don't have a tracking number so I don't know when they're meant to arrive, but I paid for the order a week ago so hopefully soon. I'm still considering the nickel plating. Nateman Doo advises me not to bother, saying it's not worth it. This is true in terms of added functional value. He also reminds me that most of the PCH block will be under PCI-E cards if I fill my PCI bus eventually, so there won't be as much to look at as I might think. Still, I really want to see these blocks get an electroless nickel treatment, and I'm probably going to do it anyway. It would match my EK Supremacy EVO X99's electroless nickel block and the block under acrylic of my EK gpu block.

I'll be sure to update as I receive the blocks.

I got Nateman's blocks in the mail! To my surprise they weren't full copper. The tops are a black plastic of some sort, possible acetal, though I don't know for sure. He coated the copper surfaces of the sides of the copper bottom parts of the block with a black coating to match, so the blocks are fully black. They look great actually. I'm asking him if he has full copper blocks I could exchange these for so I can still do the nickel plating, but if he doesn't have any, I'll use these as is. They won't match the rest of my water blocks in my machine, but oh well. I'm sure they'll function great.

Nateman told me that the tops are milled from Delrin, aka acetal.

Not sure if I'll break down and install these very soon or if I'll wait till I'm ready to tear my machine down anyway to rebuild it in my custom wood case. I'll probably wait, since draining my loop and removing the mobo just to put these blocks on when I'm going to be moving it soon seems rather pointless.

Most waterblocks form all manufacturers are a metal bottom and a plastic top, and Natemans are no different.  The VRM on my Dark board sits around 25c cooler on average with the block on, and by looking at the craftsmanship of them, you'd never know they were made by a guy in his basement (unlike my old DIY frankencomp ugly but functional things I made in the past), they really do look like top notch stuff you would expect from a big name place like EK.
