It looks like there are quite a few people here on the EVGA forums who are sharing a lot of enthusiasm for EVGA's SC17 laptops (both 1st gen and 2nd gen, now with 1070.)

But I also think 17" for a laptop/screen is a little on the large side for many of us, who would LOVE to see a 14" or 15" version of the laptop. @EVGA, are there any plans to expand the laptop offerings to more sizes?

Well, I own the SC17 980M model and I honestly wish they did have a smaller model. But, being this is there first laptop they were likely waiting to see if it was going to sell well before they committed to making a smaller model. I would be very surprised if they didn't atleast make a 15.6" model in the future. That would be the happy medium for power and portability. But, a 14" model would be my dream laptop from EVGA. Though there are a few options like the MSI 43VR, Razer Blade 14", and Aorus x3 all have a GTX 1060 which is faster than the 980m in the first gen SC17 and are all cheaper. Hopefully, EVGA does make smaller models. But, I wouldn't hold my breath that it will be right around the corner. :(

Oh yeah I'm not holding my breath either. But if its something I could expect to see next year at some point, I'm going to hold off on upgrading my laptop until the new one comes out. Are there any EVGA techs who could comment?

I won't buy an EVGA laptop unless they make a smaller one. A 17" laptop doesn't fit under the seat of a standard domestic commercial flight. My 15.6" Clevo P150HM barely fits with some complaints from the airline staff every now and then. I don't demand EVGA make a smaller version since I am sure they are doing the market research to make their own decisions based on their target market; I am just saying that the frequent flier market is definitely a market which EVGA will not have at present.

Edit: And I have seen people say "but it does fit under the seat of the airplane!" in reply. No it doesn't. How much do you fly? Do you fly 6 to 12 flights a month? Just because you flew on one flight with the SC17 and the airline staff turned a blind eye and didn't complain, doesn't mean that it fits.

While not in the market currently, I would only be looking at a 13.3" 16:10 laptop w/ high DPI, ie 2880x1800. Give it a relatively low power i7 CPU such as i7 7500U, a GTX 1060, a single m.2 slot (user accessible), and a cooler name than "EVGA SC 13/15/17". IMO, jet black aluminum anodizing with a single "Classified" logo middle of the back is the way to go. Something like that, I might put money down for if I were buying a standard laptop. Just brand it as a Classified 13/15/17.

Big gaming laptops in the 15"+ range are less and less common IMO.

I love the idea of rebranding them as sc13/15/17 classifieds.

I also agree that the 17" is too big and especially heavy. I made the mistake of buying an m17x, and vowed that my next laptop will be under 5lbs. Besides, even a 1070 can't run 4k all that well and a qhd 14" just might be the sweet spot. Cough, gigabyte aorus, cough.
