It's clear your body is giving you message(s) that you need to do something. You're overwhelmed, man. You have to shut down (even though you say you can't) and take a load off. You can pretty much see all the signs your body is going into 'panic mode'. Just by the brief description you gave based on your stressful workload in post #29, it really is time for a vacation.

I'm not a doctor, but I don't think popping pills, to hide the symptoms, should be the answer.

I work a very stressful job where I deal with traumas coming into the Emergency Department.  We are the only Trauma center in Idaho and we have lots of craziness come (drownings, Motorcycle crashes, Motor Vehicle Crashes, Horse, Bull accidents, GSW (Gun shot wounds - self inflicted, homicidal), hanging, etc...

I work with the families of these patients who come into the unit and serve and take care of their needs.  I provide emotional support and work closely with the hospital chaplains to help them during this difficult processes.

I have had like NO time off lately - 2 people on vacation - Boss out of town (on top of 2 people) - not to mention that there are only 6 people in my department and I work crazy long 12 hour shifts.

Seeing people die all the time and seeing the grief that families go through is so difficult to emotionally deal with.  Sometimes I go home and nothing I can do can seem to help me destress.  Sadly I think this job gives me anxiety and depression.  I'm sure I will find a happy balance and will end up feeling better soon.

I wish I could take time off - but that is a pipe dream... Not going to happen.  Shoot, I can't even call in sick in my department (which sucks because I accrue over 20 paid days of vacation per year + 7 days of sick time).

I think you should find another job, man...Probably not what you want to hear, but to me it sounds like the job is affecting your mental and physical health.

^ I agree - I might have to do that...

But first, I have an MRI with contrast scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 17th.  Hopefully I will have some answers after that

Keep us updated.. I hope the results show no serious problems. Good luck. Woulda been nice if it was just too much garlic in your diet. Ive saved two people that were suffering from vertigo that way, plus myself.

If you have problem specific when you want to sleep and never in other part of the day,
than probably is not brain tumor or some serious neurogical disease.
But maybe you have some problem and anyway should talk with doctors.
Probably is some kind of stress.

Well I totally hope that it is just some sort of stress....

I have actually been sleeping better as of late.  But lately I have had increased headaches with some visual disturbances - so I will just have to wait and see

Had a guy at work have something similar. He dealt with it for months before finding out what it was... He thought it was vertigo and it would come and go at times. The guy looked terrible when he would come into work, the guy was miserable for months. He ended up finding out when he had shingles, it caused damage in his inner ear... Which is why he was having vertigo like problems. Once they were able to diagnose the actual problem, they had him back in shape within a week.

If the MRI does turn up negative you might consider talking to a psychologist or psychiatrist. Not to get some kind of drugs necessarily, but just having someone impartial to talk to about the stresses in your life might make a huge difference in helping you cope with it. I've done that a couple times and it's made a huge difference for me just having someone to talk to that's outside my circle of friends and family.

I have opted to not do the MRI. I am convinced that stress, anxiety, and depression have been giving me awful symptoms.

I am going to see a psychologist soon and may start taking some medications to help me cope with my stress

Instead of letting your job and the things around you control how you feel: put yourself first. Let everything conform to you and let it adapt. Keep trying different shrinks and therapist till you find one you click with, and if you end up doing meds, less is better. Don't rule out the physical affecting the psychological and vs verse, having a daily/weekly routine and sleep, get out of the house "work doesn't count",

I've probably been through a dozen theiripst, the past 10yrz, and only liked/clicked with my past two. I was a caregiver spouse for 16 yearz, my health taking a dive and now grieving over my late wife, the physical vs psychological vs the total takes a lot to understand, and fewer so called modern age adults just can't understand!

I wouldn't recommend either. I'd recommend reading some books and taking care of it himself. Even then, he'd want to talk to someone other than a psychologist or psychiatrist in this instance. A psychologist could do some individual counseling, but I still wouldn't recommend it.
