Were did it go? Wanted to see if anyone runs it with precision installed. Now that I run mostly on it with my games either in steam or wine would really like to get some oc software working.

i understand that, not sure why though. i just installed a GTX950 SC+ and the driver was a PITA to install, CLI can be a scary place lol. i did get steam and wine working real well so gaming is not a issue and after editing my xorg.conf file i now have overclocking and fan control (no fan curves though, set static speed) if any one is interested in using linux i would go with mepis MX15, based off debian stable it is by far the best one i have ever used.

I thought I should chime in. In the Visual Effects world (people making movies like Avengers, Star Wars) we use GPU resources and CPU resources at a scientific computational level that's much more demanding than casual gaming. Facilities use nothing but linux. Particularly CentOS, or RHEL and primarily have render farms and workstations that use geforce cards and quadros. Most of the time we rely on nvidia-smi and other command line tools to query and configure profiles on cards. Linux is a pretty big deal in that industry. I'd be curious to know what other people are doing with linux besides folding / mining bitcoins.

If anyone needs help in the crunching or folding section with Linux then posting in those appropriate sections is fine. For day to day use problems with Linux then General Software is the forum you need to use.

Agreed RJ. I would think that folding/crunching is particularly a subject all on it's own for Linux/Unix systems considering it's a very different matter rather than having a KDE/Gnome issue or launching Steam from X11. Probably best to group that with the folding/crunching section and keep the general Linux/Unix questions to here.

They'r are a few of us on the forums that are Linux users, Im by no means a Linux junkie. Ive been using Ubuntu 15/16 without issues. With AMD and Nvidia getting better Linux/Vulkan Improvements, hopefully we'll see more and more games for Linux/SteamOS. I ever get out of this rut called depression, Id diff build a game on Souce2/Linux, MS has already screwed them selves in my POV......
