Hmm haven't used the newer Precision since back in the legacy days, this appears to be looking pretty good may have to give it a try again...

I sent a PM a few days ago about this here.  Why is EVGA refusing to fix and acknowledge this issue?

Are you sure it is not HWiNFO64's causing your issue?
Have you tested this on another computer?
Could your WMI be corrupted, if so have you tried to repair it, have you ran sfc /scannow to see if you have or need some fixing.
Not seeing this myself but see a little when I start HWiNFO64

I only mentioned HWiNFO64 in that thread to show that other hardware monitoring programs don't have the same issue. Either EVGA is doing something odd with how they monitor hardware, or it's caused by the features for controlling hardware voltage/clocks/fans/etc. I've tried uninstalling Avast and closing background programs, but the issue only happens when PrecisionX (and PrecisionX OC) is running.

I just tested with 6.0.5 and confirmed that the problem still happens. I ran Sysinternals'/Microsoft's Process Monitor utility as administrator, confirmed that WmiPrvSE.exe (WMI Host Provider) was not in use, started PrecisionX OC, confirmed that the issue started only after it was running, exited PrecisionX OC, and confirmed that the issue stopped once PrecisionX's processes were no longer running.

There have been a couple times where I would close PrecisionX, but PXSW10_x64.exe would still be running in the background and would cause the WMI issue to continue happening. It's important to make sure there are no PrecisionX processes running when checking on WmiPrvSE.exe's usage for comparison.

ASUS' AI Suite 3 (not really a great program, but it works) also does hardware monitoring and control and is able to do so without causing the WMI Provider Host to constantly access tzres.dll and tzres.dll.mui.

Sorry EVGA but after running this software one time on my GTX 980 Hybrids when I set my PC set to 124% it restarts my PC.
Other issues not being able to save profile setting, while one an SLI setup I can save one card settings but not the other, when I select the other card after saving the profile the setting reset back to 0 on the other card.
BSOD Code 117 Going back to EVGA Precision X 16 5.3.11
Added:
Back EVGA Precision X 16 5.3.11 now with all my Profiles re-setup and running with no issues.
Profiles are set in so starting with 1440 1450 1460 1470 1480 1490 and 1501 and last one for Default Settings with Fans set to 70%

I installed 6.0.5 and did a reboot of my PC and then launched razer cortex and steam and ran COD MW2, MW3, Ghosts and BO3 (this is what i play) and razer cortex keeps freezing then crashes after about 3-5 minutes of game play. Going back to X16 and i hope this doesn't cause any issues with it. Will try other updates as i see them posted.

I'm stuck at the "EVGA Card Detected" screen asking for a serial number. I want to use on my new Titan XP and my 2nd GPU (which I kept in for Blender rendering) is an EVGA 780 ti. Do I seriously have to pull the card to get a serial number the software should be able to see on its own? I tried getting off the hardware info in windows but XOC won't accept it as decimal or hex. Besides, if the software is smart enough to figure out I have an EVGA card in the system, shouldn't that be enough?

You only need to complete this screen one time and then it will not ask you again.

Yeah, I kinda figured that much but really, I have to take my computer apart just to get a serial number even though the software already knows I have a 2-3 year old EVGA card in there?

So I have the original Titan Xs and they are not "Evga" but they have a custom EVGA bios on them. Can't get past the login screen now, because I don't have a 'legit' serial? Thought this was only for Pascal models... So I guess I'm SOL - MSI Afterburner here I come?

If you registered your card with EVGA it should be a simple lookup on the website under your account. You did register your card right?

for some reason this program does not startup with windows automatically. it was easy with other builds before the xoc version . how do you do it now ? I have the startup with windows checked off on the facing menu.

Does anyone know if EVGA will include "CPU temperature" in GPU Statistics for the OSD like in PX16? I find it a useful tool when testing out games on my system.

I'm sorry but this whole register thing is just ridiculous.  I tried registering once but it kept coming back and I don't like posting my real name in many places.  Like to keep that stuff private.

Also, I use HWiNFO64 and wouldn't want PrecisionX XOC conflicting with it.

I guess I'll be sitting this one out, again.

Like I said above "Not seeing this myself but see a little when I start HWiNFO64" So it is a conflict with the Free HWiNFO64 Tool.

As I've said, too, the problem is occurring even when ONLY PrecisionX is running. I only used HWiNFO after encountering the problem to see if this was normal behavior from hardware monitoring software, which it is not. I've even ruled out the possibility of antivirus software causing the issue.

One other interesting behavior I've noticed is that starting and stopping PrecisionX results in entries being written to the Microsoft-Windows-WMI-Activity/Operational event log. By comparison, HWiNFO64, HWMonitor, and AI Suite 3 don't appear to create any WMI log entries.

I actually am a computer technician and I've done enough troubleshooting to know that the issue is being caused by PrecisionX. I've seen it mentioned that older versions of the program do not have this issue so somewhere along the line something was changed in the program that caused this to start happening. To be honest, it almost feels like I've done more troubleshooting on this issue in the past week than EVGA has in the past 4 months (granted, I have no way of actually knowing for sure, but that's what it feels like). What is the point of buying an EVGA card if I have to do their work for them?

Hey Wiser87 I have to Totally agree with you on that one. I would also like to shed some light on the subject as i recently bought me a 1070 GTXsc and running into a gauntlet of issues.
First There is a sub process being load Called WinRing0, Should be able to look at it under your services tab. This nice little bit of program Creates Fake Hardware to do the reading of the Cards.
Link here:   github.com/cody82/open-hardware-monitor/tree/master/External/WinRing0
Now i know this is not the orginal code, but the authors website does not host the project anymore.
Link Here: openlibsys.org/
Now knowing this i would be almost 90% for sure that this is what you see as a leak.
The reason i figured this out because i was also trying to fix OCX for my card.  Now of course i did the Normal "Rinse & Repeat of the Drivers & Software". Still my brand new card still was not detected.
Then i also cleaned my registry manually. No Luck! So i went digging as i always do, and Found our little friend WinRing0.

At this point i'm compiling everything i have found and ways to fix the card not being Detected and will make a formal post.
but in the mean time i hope this helps.

Did everyone else get this on first boot of the Precision x OC?

or

Just complete and post if it asks you over and over.

I fixed it already and i completed it to, was just wondering.

Mostly Users with Non EVGA Cards saw this.

I'm getting this on a EVGA 660 Ti SC, hell if I know the serial number. How do I get passed it?

Broken - 2 Problems 2016/08/31 14:57:12 (permalink)
1. With this version installed with sli 980's it shows my graphics cards out of order, IE: 1 is 2 and 2 is 1

2. where is the information hidden for the install regarding the card registration, I uninstalled the software several times, deleted the install folder, killed the internet connection when reinstalling and am still not being prompted to enter that again, I was hoping maybe if I entered the serial number of my other card it would somehow manage to put my cards in the proper order in the software?

*** For those running EVGA cards and not knowing your serial number, why don't you still have your box, or why didn't you register your warranty information ***

Re: EVGA Precision XOC 6.0.5 2016/08/31 16:03:36 (permalink)
Just installed my new 1060 card and downloaded PrecisionX OC v6.0.5. My system is running Win 10 64 bit, 32 g of RAM and an i7-4770 CPU. The installshield program gets to "The program features you selected are being installed" and hangs. I have to do a reboot to clear the process. PrecisionX 16 on Steam installed with no problems. OCScanner installed with no problems. Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

Its fallen on deaf ears. They just continue to ignore it and not acknowledge the problem. I don't know what their get up is or problem over there.

I have the same problem and I don't have HWiNFO64, so no, it's not a conflict.
