Very cool build.  Is this going to be a daily driver and folder or just strictly for folding?

Yup, throw many pics at us and good luck on the custom H20.

both of course, there isnt much point into putting so much cosmetics into a simple folding machine. much less spending the cost of three 1080's to liquid cool it... man, this build is costing me a lot, which is why they are 1070's not 1080's, but eventually this this will be amazing.

Chris,

Awesome rig.  I decided to split mine into two PC's since I did not want that much heat in my box.  But then again I am only running 3 cards.  4th card when a 1080TI comes out or the next best thing.

Interesting thing is a left everything stock.  Main machine 1080 is at 1934 clock, 1070 at 1979 clock.  Living room machine 1070 at 1911 clock.  So cooling and silicone luck it seems to be.  The living room machine may be slower since it is running the monitor for that machine.

Quick update: EKWB has confirmed a pre-order ship date for the FTW full cover waterblocks for Sept 15th. also cable sleeving is insanely difficult! it took me 2 hours just to modify one cable and i had to cutoff/redo 3 crips. i know the first one is the learning curve so i REALLY hope i can at least cut that down to 30min.... but the end result is much MUCH better looking.

if all goes well sept 21-25th will be the build out of all the liquid cooling and also the destruction of two DVI-D ports to make them single slot cards such that i can get all 5 onto the motherboard. though it does depend on how soon the stuff arrives as they only guarantee that it will ship on the 15th.

HA!!! no... i now have full respect for whomever does this by hand. though a lot of these cable moders have set lengths for a reason, automation. still though this is an art form.

OMG, i thought 2 hours for 1 was bad. once i took out my volt meter it only got worse... i found out that i had bad connections that i had to redo! 6 hours later i got 2 finished and operational... but ya totally worth it when you look at the before and after.

no, an auto stripper would be nice if i wasn't sleeving them but what i am doing i can strip a good inch and let the sleeve cover the wire, not that i am doing this. so i do not have to worry about getting exactly 2-3mm of wire stripped every time. the thing that is taking forever is getting the 2 wires and sleeving into a single crimp. getting that right takes a lot of time and patients...measuring and making the other single end takes about half as long per crimp. but also ya, my finger tips are rather sore and i did cut myself but it didn't bleed.

Man, that cable mod seems to require more patience than I can muster. I just wish PSU came with more 8pin cables, not these stupid 6+2 combos. Sadly, they don't make them for my psu or I'd buy straight 8pin pcie cables.

welp, i just ordered the last of my parts and i compiled a list of all the parts that went into this build, so far and does not include modified parts like the cables mentioned above. i went ahead and edited the main post with it but for those interested i'll also list here, wish there was a [hide] or [spoiler] tag i could wrap it in... also as i said before the liquid cooling parts will not arrive until the 22nd, if they don't get held in customs for any reason, and at that point till the 25th i will be working to complete this build to its 100% finished state, if all goes well.

Man that's quite a project! I have a couple thoughts for you: good luck putting the water blocks on all those 1070s. Getting the old coolers off, cleaning up the die, then putting it back together with the water block on takes a while, and you're doing it five times!

Secondly, have you thought about just waiting for EVGA to finally ship those power adaptors that will go down the end of the card and let your power cables plug in down at the bottom of the card? That would clean up the look tremendously.

How thick are those XSPC 420mm radiators; seems a little small for 5 GPU + CPU ?

Check out his extensive list CoolGTX, He is using the new Corsair Maglev fans.  The rad's are 140MM .":Best cooling capacity in the 45mm thick radiator class" X2 << [using 2 of them]
 Pumps = https://www.ekwb.com/shop/catalogsearch/result/?q=EK-XTOP+Dual+DDC+3.2+PWM+%28incl.+2x+pump%29

I was just looking at some of his items, and was thinking.. " man that's cool that he knows what he wants in his layout."
Interesting the 1080 blocks are same for 1070. Quite a project Chris, enjoy the build. I love it so far!! I would enjoy the heck out of that. Also noticed he is using the hardline and also some soft tube.

Edit: I did have a question on the temp sensor. Do you already have something that reads the signal for that? I have no doubt ,you know wth you're doing ,just curious.
"Bare coolant sensor compatible with Koolance multi-sensor systems. Designed to fit any G 1/4 BSPP (parallel) thread fitting socket. Wire length = 30" (76cm). NOTE: This sensor will only work with Koolance products which use 10K Ohm @25°C sensors (first introduced in 2011)."

that inline temp sensor will replace the air temp sensor in my DG-87 Case, this way i can see coolant temp instead of air temp.

as for EVGA Power Link for the ends of the GPUs, i was looking at them and i may eventually go with them. but for now this isnt an option so i will continue to move forward.

this build has had nearly a hundred hours of planning in it so far and the guys at EKWB were helpful enough to help me plan out this build. i hope i got everything i need and now i hope it all arrives safely and i can get it finished soon.

gotta wait a couple more days before you can see all 5 in one PC. all the stuff will be here tomorrow and i plan on getting started right away. now that i have both GPU's cut down to single slot i will now need to re-install the cooler and make sure they still work or if i just made some expensive paper weights. i'll edit this post or make a new one once i get that far.

YAY, i do not have paper weights! and it kinda looks funny with the DVI port and grill missing on those two slots... now to wait till tomorrow for my stuff to arrive and then i'll tear my whole PC apart and start to re-build the thing.

p.s. i have finally came up with a name. her name is EVE v0.5 . she has to first find a cure before she'll be upgraded and repurposed to find plant life on a dead world.

I thought I'd asked you this already, but I can't find the post, so I'll ask it again: if you have a full water loop, why do you still need so many fans? Are the RAM modules, the chipset, and whatever isn't water cooled really putting out that much heat?

The fans are for the radiators.
Yes, the other components put out heat and need to be cooled. But, you simply align your radiators to intake and exhaust to provide airflow within the case.

Yeah I found my other post later on where I originally asked him about that. That's cool.

One of the design motives for my new wood case was to keep all the hot air from the radiators out of the motherboard area of the case, and to try to optimize the airflow potential of my fans. I believe that screwing fans directly to radiators is a poor solution for matching the airflow potential of fans to what the radiators need for dissipating heat, not to mention the noise implications of the fan blades beating the air 1/4-1/2" away from he radiator fins.

Anyhow I'm really looking forward to Chris's new photos as he completes this build.

Gotta figure the energy density per square inch in that rig. Be interesting to see how the Temps work out.
