It just uses the normal USB 3.0 header connection. As long as your motherboard supports USB 3.0 or 3.1gen1 front panels, the type C port should work just fine.
AFAIK, the type C port on the front panel is a host-only USB 3.0 type-C port (with no alt-mode support for displayport, thunderbolt, analog audio, or power delivery). By "host-only" I mean it's got a transistor in it to announce it as a legacy-host port, which among other things means it can only run as a host device and has a 900mA power draw cap, so no fastcharging for your usb-c smart phone xP, the same as a normal USB 3.0 type-A port would have.
