I live in the country about 5 miles from nearest store. No cable, no cell phones just nature. I bought this house about 13 years ago thinking it was the perfect place to retire and enjoy the later years in life. Well looks like the city has started moving in. They are building this less than a mile from me on the same country road I live on. Surveyor's have been working right in front of my house. http://www.southfieldenergy.com/index.php/

The county should hold a hearing before that property is zoned for commercial use. That is a good time for land owners near by to complain.

+1 True... They may have already had a hearing, with minimal announcement. Look at the bright side shock, you should have nice power coming in... Sorry dude that sux. I know what that feels like, our last house was in an eminent domain situation for the schools here. Not the same ,but still an "invasion" of your peace.

+1  Could have bought 50 or 100 acres and still ended up like this. If this impacts the value of your property from an appraisal point of view; wonder if you can get compensation in your state.

Oh sweet, more gas burning power plants that will just end up burning diesel fuel when people wake up and stop fracking.
Why not just built wind farms, Ohio has the land and fabrication facilities for it.

I wish. The only compensation will be a raise in my home owner taxes due to re zoning.

Funny (ironic) story. Wife and I picked out our house based on so many factors. Sexual predators being one - or lacktherof I should say. We move in and a few months later we get a notice that a sex offender moved in around the corner.

That sucks but look at it this way, at least it's not a big block of low income housing. I don't think those need that much maintenance so you probably won't see much as far as people. I would love to have a telephone central office or a substation next to me instead of the neighbors I have now. We used to have the only house on my street and a few years ago there was a boom and some fly by night crap contractor dumped a bunch of cheap modular (Trailers basically) on both sides of me. The worst part is that these people were not local and for some reason they thought it would be a great idea to breed Pigeons in their back yard. They promised that they were going to make their yard "a Zion". A few months later, their rape van took all their smelly kids away and left the pigeons to procreate with the abundance of pigeons that are already here. So now, I have a neat .22 with a laser and a home made suppressor to maintain the balance of nature and send those flying rats back to the hell where they came.
