Seems like Gigabyte has joined the club. They claim to be working with Nvidia on a solution and for now they are going to start offering upgrades to all their 980s(well obviously not the waterforce). It was cool that EVGA started down this path first though I wish they would open it up to all their 980s. It would have made my decision really easy.

Hey all, I know this is a year old, but I wonder was this issue solved?  I've got two 970's in SLI right now and wonder how I would go about seeing if this was fixed.

There was nothing to fix. This is done inside the architecture of the GPU, and there is no fix for that.

Like Scarlet-Tech said... the bug is in the hardware/chip itself. There is no software or BIOS to fix that. Nvidia would have to release a 2nd GTX 970 version, but that is not going to happen. To Nvidia it is not an "issue" ;)

They/he have already well moved onto the 1000 series and could care less about the 900 series anymore

Why are you even here if all you do is whinge about Nvidia? The point in this thread is that there is literally zero that can be done with the 970 as it is intentional in its design.

Morning everyone, looks like nvidia is going to be refunding $30 to 970 owners due to the memory issue. Even though it's a little late I'm glad to see that something is finally being done for the owners who decided to keep their cards. I can't seem to add the link to the article but I found it at PCWorld but a quick google search will bring it up also. I upgraded my 970 to the 980 outside of the 90 day step-up period (thanks EVGA) so I'm not sure if I would receive this or not. Also not sure if this is per card or household.

If you upgraded or sold your card, I don't think you'd be eligible. Honestly, at this point, we're still waiting for an official announcement from Nvidia on this and speculating will only drive stupid people to calling the place of purchase or manufacturer for this. My guess is, this will purely be an Nvidia thing, not related to board partners or sellers and will need proof of purchase to participate in this, but that's speculation, as well. Amazon, Newegg, EVGA, ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI and all the other sellers and manufacturers do not want to hear from people calling them asking about this, as they do not know what the current situation is with this, and will not know until Nvidia makes a public announcement.
