Are there any rumours about the 1080ti release date? I just bought a 1070 SC and would love the option of stepping up to a 1080ti within the next  87 days.

Who knows, who would have guessed we'd have access to the Pascal Titan this early?

    Not I.

    Maybe ti can happen.

Based on the specs of Pascal and the price it is launching at. I do not think there will be a 1080ti anytime soon and also believe there is a chance Nvidia might skip it this generation altogether. There really is no competition from AMD which in part would make zero sense for them to release it any time soon. My best bet is if they ever do release it would be when AMD launches there Vega card which is rumored to be launching in about 6 months but that all depends how powerful AMD Vega is. There are also rumors that Nvidia Volta card will be releasing early next year if that is true then I really do not see any chance of a 1080ti happening since that would be around the time AMD Vega would be launching. In the end who knows Nvidia spent the last few months launching different cards one after the other who knows if they are done.

I am going to have to agree with DENTNU.  Beyond the competition aspect of things, where would the TI slot in anyway both in performance and pricepoint?  We are staring down the barrel of a $1200 Titan X (P) and an upwards of $750 1080 (average $650ish?) in terms of costing.  Costing along doesn't leave much room unless they plan to release at a $900ish pricepoint?  With that out of the way, performance wise it is a little bit less clear.  With the Titan at 12gb and the 1080 at 8gb what do they change?  Make a 10gb card and slash the cuda count by 15% or something of that nature?  I think at this point, Volta will unveil a 1080TI (or some other name) but with HBM possibly?

It is all a guessing and rumor game for sure.  Nvidia, EVGA and likely the other board partners know roughly how at least the next 6 months is going to play out.   Nvidia will respond strong if Vega lives up to the "hype".

I've been waiting on the 1080Ti, now I'm wondering if it will ever happen. The new Titan X at $1,200 is significantly more than I'd be willing to pay for a graphics card, particularly since I don't need it for computing, just for graphics. My existing 980Ti is a decent card, just not sure going from that to a 1080 is worth doing at present, which is why I was holding out for a 1080Ti...

    Honestly,

I was thinking of the upgrade from my ti's to a single card, either 1080 hybrid or classy and ditching sli issues.

There isn't going to be a 1080 ti. The new titan xp was suppose to be the 1080 ti.

At almost twice the price? LOL I friggin hope not. There may not be a 1080Ti, but a $1,200 Titan is not a replacement for a Ti, it's a separate card entirely.

$1200 is just ridiculous and I hope nobody purchases it. They are ripping people off at those prices.

The HBM Titan will be the full size titan.  Sajin is right.  Like I said earlier, I don't see a TI with the current price and configuration of the 1080.  The 1080 would need a price drop so a TI could slot in.

The new Quadro proves they can make a full chip with 3840 shaders they just won't drop it on the Titan X right now. The newer Titans are just name only since they pulled the Double Precision support already. In that sense it really is aimed at cheap workstation use in lieu of expensive Quadro cards, at least if you don't need DP performance. A 1080 Ti will probably come later, after milking the Quadro cards first. Maybe early next year, after all they're still continuing the Titan X line for no apparent reason.

I think you mean the new Tesla. It's a GP100 GPU and it is very doubtful they would use this die for consumer gaming type GPU. The current Quadro line is still on Maxwell.

Yeah i don't think a Ti will be around this generation. All leaked info that had been discovered are pretty much exactly what the new Titan X(p) is, while we all assumed would be the 1080 Ti specs. Having said that, it's almost definitively omits a Ti since the full GP100 is what auto-manufactures are going to be utilizing, and this cut down GP102 & specs were presumably 1080Ti specs and then Nvidia had to go and lay the bomb on us, and releasing the new Titan X(p) with those same specifications.

This year it's difficult to guess what NVIDIA will do. They have introduced the GTX 1080/1070/1060 and in August the Titan X.

With demand for the GTX 1080 very high 'personally' I don't think we'll see a higher end video card from NVIDIA this year. Sometimes with NVIDIA you just never know what they're going to do. The Titran X announcement was totally unexpected and far earlier than anyone predicted.

I almost gave in and pulled the trigger on an EVGA 1080 today, only to find nobody has it in stock lmao.. I wanted the blower type, not ACX. Talked myself back out of it. I think a 1080Ti may still come out - there's room for it, eg: with 384bit mem bandwidth like the 980Ti, and a slightly higher base clock say 1750Mhz, same 8GB mem and mem clock otherwise it might kill any Titan X sales.. then again, at $1,200 good luck with that... Just idle speculation of course. Price point ~$725? Wishful thinking perhaps.

BTW, anyone from EVGA, any plans to put out the 1080 SC Gaming card but with the blower instead of the ACX shroud?

You'll probably have to wait until Volta for Titan XP performance at price below $1000.  Luckily, Volta is expected to release next year and maybe May at the earliest.
