    Hello,

I checked on your two active step up's and I see they were created late into July which means you likely have a bit of a wait time in queue.

Sadly I cannot determine the time in queue but we appreciate your patience.

We will email you directly with further information and instruction when it is time for the next step.

How about someone who got into queue on launch day? At 1:27 PM EST. If you could check on this for me I would be super grateful. If you can't no worries.

Another poster on these forums who got into queue at 2pm EST has reached step 2, (source:) http://forums.evga.com/StepUp-received-m2504254-p5.aspx  Perhaps the queue is not in exact order of time?

I should have clarified I am waiting for the 1080 SC version. I think that person was waiting for a 1070.

Some folks have been waiting since May. Others, like me, have been waiting since early June. That's just how it works.

Depending on the card you selected for your step up option you may move through the queue faster or slower depending on stock.

Rats. I couldn't even log in until the next day, and then I had to buy a warrantee. And if I recall correctly there were already 534 ahead of me.

I submitted mine a few days after release and before the queue was removed there were 930 people ahead of me. In no rush so it doesn't bother me, Just happy i had the opportunity to step up. Without the step up program i would have lost $300+ selling off my 980ti lol

Yea i was in the same boat with my 980ti, I was looking to lose $300 as well.  Thank you EVGA for the step up program.  I'm in no rush as well, I already have a 1080 FE I purchased from Nvidia the first week of June.....SLI build coming soon :)

I can't send PMs (haven't made any forum posts...) but I wanted to express my frustration at the current status of the Step Up program. I purchased a GTX 970 in June specifically so I wouldn't have to be constantly checking retailer stock on the 1070s every day. I figured the Step Up program would be a good way to go ahead and build the rig I had in mind now and upgrade when the 1070 was in stock. But I'm honestly at the point where I'm about to consider the purchase of my 970 a loss and just buy a 1070 outright. Being able to view my place in the queue would at least alleviate the frustration, so I had some kind of timeframe to work with.  If I knew that I was getting close, I would hold off on purchasing a replacement. But checking my inbox every day has become even more frustrating than checking nowinstock.net.

Any way you can check to insure I am still in process?  I've received nothing from EVGA except the notice that I will be given the newer card for my step-up...

How is the 970 a lost purchase when you can still use it?

What are you missing out on by not having a 1070 right this second, given that you still have a 970 to use?

How is the 1070 different if you get it right this second or in two months time?

Because it doesn't meet my performance needs. I bought it with the intention of only having it for a very short period of time. I'm missing out on having the kind of gameplay experience that I desire. It's different because that's two months of having the kind of performance I'm looking for vs. not having it. Any further questions that do not pertain to what my post was about?

I'm not complaining about not having a 1070, I'm complaining about the lack of communication on EVGA's part by removing the ability to view one's place in the queue.

I could get the e-mail tomorrow or I could get it 2 months from now. I have no way of knowing. Once approved, I have 7 days to pay the upgrade difference but, depending on when I get notified, I might not have the funds within that period. Whereas if I knew I was getting close, I could set aside the money for it. Basically, it's not a consumer friendly move on their part.

So next time buy your GPU from ASUS, or Gigabyte, or Zotac, and take advantage of their incredibly generous step up processes.

    Wait a minute...........

Even offering a step up is more consumer friendly than any other vendor, who would basically just say lol tough luck enjoy taking a bath ebaying your out-of-date hardware. Complaining about the time it takes is like complaining about a complimentary meal. You're already getting a better deal than you'd get elsewhere.

When you bought your 970 nobody told you "and you can step up right away!", you made the assumption it would be a quick process without any evidence to suggest that would be the case. If having the "gameplay experience" you want was so important then you should have waited. You can dress it up however you like but the fact is it sounds more like "waaaaahhhh I want the new thing right away ;_;" than anything else. You can have just as much fun with your 1070 in September as you could have had with it in June. Nobody is going to break into your house and permanently uninstall all your games. Nothing is stopping you putting the money aside now so it's ready, and if you're in such dire financial straits that you need advance notice to scrape the cash together then maybe luxury high end computer components shouldnt be on your shopping list.

This is truly a poor cop-out.

Just because other companies don't offer the program doesn't mean it was a good move for EVGA to make their program LESS consumer friendly. The queue number used to be posted, they removed that and really had no substantial reasoning behind it.

Sure, EVGA is wonderful for offering the Step-Up program, but again it doesn't excuse making it go from a completely consumer friendly program to one that has flaws and becomes more of a hassle for consumers for no legitimate reason.

So would you rather they do it the way they do now, or just not offer step up at all?

If queue numbers were visible all of these,"whhaaaa where am I in the queue this isn't faaaiiirrrrr" posts would just be replaced with "waaaaahhhh the queue is moving too slowly this isn't faaaiiirrrrr" posts.

EVGA basically can't win with some people and it boils entirely down to impatience and a total lack of understanding in how the step up program works.

I've been waiting for 2 months for my 1080 and when the queue was visible I was up over 1500. I've got no idea where I am now but I expect it'll be another few months at the least and that's ok. EVGA never made any timeline promises so I have nothing to hold them to account over. I'm fine with my 970 for now, the 10 series existing hasnt made my 970 perform any worse.

Part of the frustration many are having is EVGA specifically having inventory problems much worse than the other board partners. What people don't realize is its demand which has kept supply so short; people would rather wait and get EVGA than settle for Gigabyte or Asus.

A consumer who is buying EVGA for the first time because of the Step Up program may be frustrated waiting for months without so much as a "sorry for the wait" email. Hell, they could avoid at least half of these "waaaah were is mine step upz card!" posts with a simple automated form letter email sent out biweekly for those in the queue. It's easy to tell people to suck it up and be thankful this is offered at all... At the same time, keep this in mind: EVGA doesn't make a whole lot of money selling a new card. Similar to companies like GameStop, they make significantly more profit per card selling used products (B Stock) than new. I also doubt EVGA makes much on reference pcb cards since they have to get them directly from Nvidia and why they don't offer custom pcb as Step Up options. In the end, EVGA isn't exactly magnanimous to offer this to us; it's ultimately just another way to make money.

On the other hand, the fact EVGA offers a Step Up option is awesome for the individual consumer. You are basically buying a new car and the dealership is taking your trade-in at 100% the original purchase price. It's almost an unprecedented business practice, especially in the tech world. Only a very small minority of consumers are willing to purchase used computer components, which is the only way EVGA makes money on the step up program.

tl;dr: Don't let the long wait sour your experience with EVGA. The Step Up Program is just a small part of what makes them so great. Those of us that are long time customers choose EVGA because they are the absolute best when it comes to customer service, bar none!

It is just a lot smarter to follow the news and hold of any purchase when there are new cards around the corner.

EVGA has not done anything wrong, but I regret the purchase and it is a bad customer experience. Just my 2c.

Interesting comment.  You will end up with newer technology for the difference in the price you paid for the card you now have.  You get to use it until the Step up is ready!  As far as the rest of us, who have been waiting over two months as well, I can't agree with EVGA not offering step ups.  I am patient as over 1,000 of us are.  It will be worth the wait.  Believe me when I say this...NO ONE offers the kind of support that EVGA does.  I have had two issues in 9 years and both resolved in an immediate manner with no hassles.  The tech support people from EVGA are friendly, knowledgeable and go out of their way to help.  I CAN speak from experience, as many others can as well.  You can purchase products from any company you choose....that is your right, but I don't agree that because of YOU, that EVGA should abandon the Step Up program.  Many of us are happy to wait.  Sorry you can't.

Then ignore the step up option. They don't force you to do it.
