Greetings,

I work in game design, and I use Precision X with an EVGA 960 FTW for the fan profiles when I play games and work in the Unreal editor. Whenever I have Precision X open, given enough time (~10 minutes), my mouse will disappear or my primary screen will go black. The only fix is CTRL+ALT+DEL, task manager, and end Precision X.

I've seen this issue on a number of forums over the last few years, so I'm guessing this isn't a problem that's going to go away. Is there any other way to control my GPU fan speed?

I've done the troubleshooting steps of reinstalling and making sure my versions are current.

Many thanks!
Kellen

Are you running any type of overclock with PrecisionX software or just using it for the custom fan curve? We would recommend that you uninstall the program, restart the computer and reinstall the program to make sure that no settings were accidentally applied that may be effecting stability

I didn't adjust any of the overclock settings, I just turned on the auto-fan.

Open Origin and in the Settings, disable the 'Origin In-game Overlay'. I think you just have to uncheck the box. It fixed it for me. No more crashes playing Battlefield 3 or 4.

I haven't had this issue while running Origin, because I haven't used that program or played any of their games through it. The issue is only while using the Unreal Editor for work, or BattleNet/Diablo 3.

Yes, I did that and I'm still having the issue. The Unreal Editor crashed immediately the next time I opened it with Precision X open. After closing Precision X, I opened the Unreal Editor again and didn't have any issues. I've had this problem ever since I started using the Unreal Editor with Precision X.

I found that if you use the default settings in 3D Applications Global Settings and then going into each program settings to make optimizations for games results in the most stable environment. Also, I give Precision X OC administrator privileges and it seems to be a lot more stable.

You can try rolling back to a previous version of Precision X. If you are running Riva Tuner I would also try closing that before starting up the Unreal Engine Editor as there are sometimes conflicts with these two applications.

If you have a moment, please rate my service. We appreciate the feedback!

My bad. I saw BattleNet and my wires got crossed and thought Battlefield / Origin. Sorry.
