EVGA X99 FTW-K need advise on USB-3 header (angled)

CobraCommand Superclocked Member Total Posts : 108 Reward points : 0 Joined: 2016/05/06 17:53:06 Status: offline Ribbons : 1 2016/07/28 20:29:04 (permalink) Hello all, Recently ordered from EVGA EU the FTW-K motherboard + gtx 1070 and psu, i am positive i can NOT use the internal USB-3 reason why is for my pc case (Lian Li PCX-500) Ive also upgraded the I/O ports on the case from usb2 to usb3 I/O with a Lian Li BZ-U08. The USB 3 connection that is on the FTW-K is to low for my case i wish it was NOT angled....anyway i can not hook up usb 3 19 pin cables to bulky and no space. Ive tried searching for a proper 90 degree internal usb 3 header (19 pin) but no real luck. Are there any ways to still use the internal usb 3 on the motherboard? Or i can use the usb 3 ports behind the case but that is not really handy... Thanks in advance #1 11 Replies Related Threads

I use them and they are great! I know right? The USB 3 case cables are always so rigid and bulky. The low profile adapter is a life saver for my Micro ATX build. #4

Thanks for the reply, I looked at the cable and i have my doubts check my added picture if you look at the atx screw hole and add about 1.5 cm for the edge of the motherboard even with this cable it might or might not fit even when bending the cables i could be wrong what do you guys think? post edited by CobraCommand - 2016/07/29 13:59:44 #6

Updated the pic as seen above sorry for the mess... Thanks for the reply, Cutting is no option this would mean the cable goes through the bottom (outside the case) and from there on i have a problem meaning another hole to cut...besides this case costs an arm and a leg 300 eur and im very happy with it for 7 years it would be a no go area for me to cut it. I have contemplated the idea beforehand to cut and saw but the idea did not seem attractive to me ie a shame for such a nice case. Planning to use this case for more years to come #12
