Hello! I just got my step 2 notification today (1080 SC, got in queue around 1:00PM EST on launch day). Does anyone have any experience with the best shipping rates to send the card in? I'm in NC and it looks like google said EVGA is in California. I tried checking each site and it was looking like even the 3 day rates where in the $80 range without any packaging? Any tips/experiences greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Wow $80? What have you tried. I would imagine UPS and USPS would be cheaper. Im in NC as well. I'm really hoping it's not $80 :/

I was just checking, I think USPS Priority 2/3 day would be the best option, for around 35.00 give or take a few bucks

Agree with crxguy...use USPS.  Send two day priority and make sure it is tracked.  You never want to send in without tracking.  Should be good to go and price not going to weigh you down.  For a minimal fee, you might want to consider insuring the card for full value as well...

    Wow USPS much cheaper.

Priority Mail 2-Day™, Flat Rate Box, mailed on July 27 after 12:00 PM
from RALEIGH NC 27615 to BREA CA 92821
With $600 insurance and tracking is $27.80 for me using a large flat rate box. But i'm afraid that box isn't going to be big enough.

Priority Mail Large Flat Rate Board Game Box
    23-11/16" x 11-3/4" x 3"

    Edit:

Nevermind, a non standard box only brought the price up to $29.10. I think have an empty amazon box with packaging material in the garage still so I'll probably go that route.

There are some 3rd party shipping companies around like http://www.eshipper.com/ that might be cheaper.

Couriers will easily charge you $10 or so for a box. They can even charge you $5 for a lump of filler paper. So the smartest thing is to reuse a suitable box and filler materials from your online orders. Chances are you had a few in the past months.

When sending in your card, do you have to include cables and accessories, or just the card?

@void...yeah I was able to find the box my water purifier came in so it'll be plenty sturdy enough. I found some leftover packaging material from an amazon box so worse case scenario i'm spending a little extra for some padding/foam.

@malvok...I think there is a sticky at the top of the forum. Double check me, but I believe they want cables/accessories. And the stickers, posters, etc are a "gift" from EVGA.

Is it really necessary to go via a "knock at your door" courier? I like the comfort of my national Swedish postal service. They have insurance, etc. and service spots everywhere. They're as fast as UPS.

Anyone didn't give a rats ass and went for their local postal service?

I think it's safe to assume that most of us in this thread are American. USPS is our national postal service, and it is notorious for its unfriendly staff at the post offices. USPS also has flat rate shipping options (a medium box that can fit an EVGA GPU: less than $15 to ship for me), so I went with that.

I too went with the USPS flat rate option. Medium box was like $13.50, and it only took 2 days to reach EVGA. I shipped Saturday morning, was delivered Monday afternoon. I'm paying EVGA nearly the same for UPS Ground in return shipping, and it will likely take 4-5 days.
