The Titan X Pascal will be out for sale on August 2 and there is no sign for the 1080Ti. I think that NVIDIA will not release a GTX 1080 Ti, only the Titan at a price that will empty my wallet. I have a GTX 1080 SC and work perfectly well at a resolution of 3440x1440p, so why wait if you don't need that extra performance.

GTX1080Ti and real TITAN with HBM2 and full chip depend a lot from AMD.
Even if AMD fail they will launch him 10-12 months later as new premium card last before Volta.
TITAN X was great, he offered great improvement of over 50% over GTX980 and increase from low 4GB to 12GB memory. TITAN Black was great as well and for gaming and still is good for professional work...
Price difference was around 400$, now price difference is same only people get less than 30% performance increase and jump from 8 to 12GB is nothing important on any resolution available at the moment. NVIDIA gone to far with this TITAN, I thought that would some big WOW with something really special, but this card with 3500 CUDA cores with same type of memory as GTX1080 and some 4GB more not worth to even comment nothing... GTX980Ti was bad because it's crippled, but at least she replaced price of GTX980. Now this is most expensive TITAN only crippled, with GDDR5X and 12GB as TITAN X. People with TITAN X SLI should only laugh and continue further until Volta show up. They not worth to compare performance at all.
NVIDIA will try to sell card as hardware 50-60% stonger than TITAN X, marketing will be concentrate in that directions, reviews and etc because they want to people with TITAN X SLI Maxwell replace their configuration for single card even if they lose little performance.
...but when people start to overclock their custom GTX1080 they will get 15-20% less performance than 400-500$ more expensive card.
If reference TITAN X is 30% stronger than GTX1080, somewhere I saw and less performance, probably between 25-35% at the end...
Problem is because TITAN will be only reference with reference clock, and GTX1080 will be with 100-150-160MHz fabric overlocked.
That's 10% stronger card... because I say this was too much BAD. Even 3840 CUDA and 12GB GDDRX5 for 1200$ is not worth... Maybe 16GB HBM2 and than somehow to sell for 1200$ and even than people will say Every year 100-200$ higher price, we don't care for HBM2, that's logic improvement and similar things. But this was ... VERY BAD. Worse TITAN for now and most expensive. I think this will be moment when people will say Now is enough.
Not all of them, but enough people.
But this is bad and for people who decide to buy GTX1080, their price will not drop before Vega show up, no one normal will pay crippled TITAN instead GTX1080 SLI for same money. And better GTX1080 models will stay around 750-800 instead to drop on 550-600$.

I can't speak for EVGA officially but in my personal opinion with demand so high for the GTX 1080 NVIDIA doesn't really need to rush any more consumer cards for a while.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

At least people who could afford GTX1080 SLI don't need to wait nothing because better option( performance for money) will not show up this year and in first half of 2017. They only should choose right models because temps. If they buy graphics now in middle or second half of August or beginning of September than even if GTX1080Ti show up they will be able to step-up.

You will see when EVGA launch GTX1080 Hybrid.
That's great hardware, not some ultra expensive 15% stronger TITAN.
People will start to fight for EVGA Hybrid and smart guys will buy two and forgot on graphic cards until Volta show up.
Pascal jump instead Volta and people thought maybe they will offer same features as NVIDIA plan for Volta.

For me is great graphic card when high end for next generation completely beat in any situation premium 1000$ worth chip from ex generation for 10-15%, and GTX1080 is exactly that. Even have space for more, because we will get overclocked custom GTX1080 and TITAN X was reference PCB.
I'm first who like premium cards, but not like this when everything waited will not be presented plus not full chip, plus price higher more than ever.
I thought that was past and bad calculation with TITAN Kepler and GeForce TITAN mean full premium chip...

Re: 1080 or wait for the ti 2016/07/24 15:22:14 (permalink)
I just thought to ask you.
But Sajin have TITAN X and don't need to worry.
TITAN X was much better deal, far better deal.
TITAN Pascal is nothing revolutionary as we expected. Nothing worth to force me to wait some good deal and invest 300 euro more than GTX1080.
Only price is even higher than I expected. Revolutionary card would be full chip with around 4000 CUDA with 16GB HBM2, very powerful chip with clear 45-50% more power than GTX1080. Now it's bigger difference between GTX1080 and GTX980 than TITAN X and TITAN Pascal.

Even buyers can't write in signature TITAN X because other customers will think that they have old generation...
NVIDIA is evil as devil. They will call him TITAN X Pascal. Because only TITAN X 12GB could be mixed with Maxwell.
Maybe TITAN X 12GB GDDR5X is better.

No really, this time it's so bad option that people who can't afford could be happy not to sorry because they can't afford.
Because first news that card cost 1200$ could make people angry if they show something really good.
But this was completely OK and fine, they could ask and 2000$, now is not important any more...

Two GTX1080 SLI vs TITAN Pascal same as GTX980Ti vs GTX980 for same price.
At least you have nicer interior with SLI than single card and two full chips with same GDDR5X.

I bet if there was a card released this year with 16 gb of hbm2 and close 3864 cuda cores it would cost close to 2k if the way nvidia is being these days :( That why I would just settle for a 1080 or titan x pascel still. I am learning towards the titan x myself :)

Personally, i WAS saving for the GTX 1080 Ti but who knows if it will show up now. Maybe I'll have to consider SLI GTX 1080 :(

It will all depend on your budget.  The 1080Ti will most likely be at least $200 higher in price vs. the GTX1080, so have your wallet/credit card ready!
