It says in the article states the price is 999 USD, not 1500.

if it comes with hbm2 it isn't gonna be cheap it requires interposer substrate and the HBM2 - so it's gonna be pricy if you thought high end Ti's and titan were pricy before add a few hundred to the price why HBM2 is more expensive #1 and you have more ram #2 and HBM2 avail #3 interposer adds and extended cost because of higher cost to make - take silicon -chip add it to substrate and add a ram controller level(substrate) for the HBM2 and the HBM2 #4 and it's new manufacturing process #5 3 layers of pins - 2 hidden - and why the process is more expensive lining up pins and solder issues are the problem here

I guess the main concern for most of us is the following: Will HBM2 matter for gaming? If not, I'll gladly opt for a pair of 1080 Ti with GDDR5X.

I believe the biggest advantages of hbm is the reduced card size and increased memory amount. I would be happy to have smaller cards in the future. Though maybe speed matters in games, unlike ddr4 vs ddr3.

I wouldn't be surprised if it costs between $1200~$1500. Though if this ends up being the case I'll wait for the 1080 Ti. I'm just happy it might be coming out so soon. I was underwhelmed by the 1080 and thought it's not something that would be worth my time. I have my titan x at 1513mhz on a full water block so the difference in performance really isn't worth the price at the moment for me. Now a card that's 40%~50% than the 1080? That's something I can't wait for.

We might be looking at a Titan with 16 gb of HBM2 50-70% faster than 1080 but cost $1500-2000 and a 1080 ti with 12 gb of DDR5X about 20-30% faster than 1080 for $800-1000. The 1080 ti might come out 2-4 months after the Titan. I was looking at some benchmarks with a co worker last night and noticed that the titan x was about 33% faster then the 980 gtx but you are talking DDR5 vs DDR5 and not HBM2 vs DDR5X

Well, games have become much more VRAM intensive over the past few years, so maybe we'll be in luck with HBM2, although HBM1 didn't seem to help AMD much, if at all.

I read that price will be around 1200$.... Do you know what... Price of hardware become disgusting. No I will not gave up from PC gaming... But do you know what... one i7 every 5 years, mATX board and two graphics similar to RX-480X on 3 years are enough. NVIDIA become so expensive that you can't enjoy as man. For 1200$ you can good weapons for next 20-30 years, example one of best crossbow from carbon fibers and other really expensive materials, optic and arrows for bears and they ask same for peace of silicon video memory and 30$ worth rest materials. And how you can enjoy when for 10 months new will show up for 1500$ and your wallet bill shorter for 1200-1500$. You will install 5-6 drivers and better hardware will be available for higher price. 1200$ is exactly 1500 euro in Europe. Number of people ready to buy that reference GeForce not even 40% confirmed stronger than GTX1080 is similar to people who asked ASUS ARES in past. Soon gaming world will separate... on people who want to buy hardware and enjoy in gameplay on high details and people who will payed 500-600% higher price for benchmarking. Or simply good part of people will decide to play most graphic demanding games 2-3 years after launch date. On that way they will pay 300-400% lower price for hardware.

Yeah this have been going on for more than 15 years :( back in 2001 the geforce 3 was only about $300 and that was the best card out. now they want $1200 for the best card thats 400% more than it was 15 years ago, maybe 15 years from now it will be $5k for best card lol.

I'm starting to finally understand that AMD is only here to offer the people "tolerable" FPS. Hence performance/dollar. From what i can see, they're not even trying to compete with Nvidia, at all. It's the people forcing that idea, and your crap media, with the lousy tech websites comparing Nvidia's GPUs with AMD's to give cheap thrills... AMD does offer a good variety to choose from, I'll give them that.

I though GP100 will be something special, really. I had very high expectations as 50% stronger than GTX1080, 16GB HBM2 but NVIDIA think that's too good for us. Because of that people will enjoy much more even with cheapest GTX1080 ACX 3.0 SLI option. That setup will be 50% stronger than TITAN X Pascal. Don't even to talk about 1080 Hybrid SLI, 8+8 pin overclocked. Power consumption 350W for SLI. With i7-6700K 750/850W PSU will be enough, 850W even with X99 platform.
