Hi folks, I'm just curious, as I wanted to put a custom VGA cooler on the FTW. Is the Raijintek Morpheus compatible with the PCB of the 1080 FTW, maybe I'll need a Morpheus II? And furthermore, does the 1080 FTW board have Mini-PWM connectors for the fans? Maybe Tech Support knows something about this? :) Best, Michael

I'm planning to do the same, got my Raijintek Morpheus II already here. Will receive the 1080 FTW around the 17th of Juni. I contacted Raijintek to know if the Morpeheus II would fit a GTX 1080. They said NVIDIA got a sample and they waiting for the answer. The reverence PCB got a normal 4pin mini-PWM connector, aswell as some custom boards. I think EVGA will use it too. I bought this one: www.aquatuning.de/luftkuehlung/luefterkabel-und-adapter/10876/gelid-vga-pwm-adapter Will use it with two Noctua s12a, should be nearly inaudible. Thanks to EVGA's cooling plate for RAM and VRM we just have to mount the Morpheus itself, dont have to bother with small chip heatsinks. :) Hope it works out, will report back if I got the card. Edit: A picture of the FTW PCB, it has a normal 4pin mini-PWM connector: cdn.videocardz.com/1/2016/05/EVGA-GTX-1080-FTW-PCB2.jpg

Hi acls86, thank you for your answer. I also sent a mail to Raijintek, specifically about the FTW PCB and they answered to me that they will send a Morpheus sample to EVGA, so EVGA can test if it fits on the FTW card. Though they only can do that after Computex because they are there at the moment. According to the picture of the PCB, there are two 4pin mini-PWM, right? That looks like own that's attached vertically and one that's attached horizontally. Or is there only one and I have to use a splitter? Best, Michael

You will need a splitter for the two fans. One of the connectors on the PCB is for the RGB lightning and the other for the fans. Greez, Johannes

Here we go. :) Raijintek Morpheus II with 1080 FTW. Morpheus I will work as well. It's a PERFEKT fit. BUT.. the new Morpheus II comes with a little backplate and longer screws. I had to contact Raijintek to get the smaller ones that came originally with the Morpheus I. They sended them for free. This like I could keep the EVGA backplate where it is. All I had to do was unscrew the four screws which holds the cooler and replace it with the Raijintek. As well I placed some thick termalpads between the backplate and the VRM and VRAM (the blue stuff on the photos). Temperature wise this is not necessary at all, but had them lying around. :) Temperatures went down from 77°C to 59°C, tested with Valley. The fans doesn't turn on in games like Diablo III, Heroes of the Storm, StarCraft II, Dota II and so on. If they turn on, they are not audible at all. Exactly what I wanted for my open rig. Hey great modification. Are the fans controlled by the graphics card or mainboard? What Noctua fans do you use?

Noctua NF-S12A, normally used as case fans they are the quietest of all noctua fans. Controlled by motherboard. They are fixed at ~30% around 480rpm. Not need for fan curve, they keep my 1080 with max load at around 59-65°C with inaudible 480rpm. Idle 33°C. I use the same fans for my CPU which max out at 55°C in games. At this state it is not possible to hear my PC even at max load in games.

I'm looking into getting a Morpheus II for my 980ti. Why is it that you need the smaller screws from the older morpheus I? Smaller as in width wise or length? update: Got the Morpheus II in hand. I get why you want shorter screws. Morpheus II come with a thick backplate so longer screws are required. However if you want to use the original backplate with holes precut around the screw you will need shorter ones. The Morpheus I come with M2x6mm screws, but the Morpheus II come with M2-9mm. I asked raijintek support for old screw they said no they don't stock them any more since product is discontinued. So I used some small nylon washers I got from hardware store instead.

I'm seriously considering the Raijintek Morpheus II and Noctua NF-S12A but don't want to run them off the M.B. What are the chances of running them from the GPU without robbing too much power from the board? edit to add power to fans... Max. Input Power 1,44 W Max. Input Current 0,12 A

most fan header allow up to 1A power. Those NF-S12A only use 0.12A max load so won't hurt. Bigger question is if you can control the fan speed with the gpu header. Heard the NF-F12 will spin 100% when connected.

Has anyone tried to do this with a reference 1080? You guys think I'll be able to do the same as acls86 Raijintek Morpheus II with 1080 FTW. Morpheus I will work as well.
I want to re-use the midplate and backplate like he did. They look pretty similar

Hey I just want to confirm that you didn’t need to put any heat sinks or thermal pads on the chokes/inductors on the from of the card? (The vertical line of objects near the right side of the card between the card and the heat sink fins.) You can cool those with just the air from the fans right?
I am doing this mod this week and ordered the screws too because I want to be able to keep the front and back plate on.
Thanks

A little tip. If you have any old GPU laying around, it might have those M2x6mm spring-loaded screws you need if you want to keep the backplate.
My old Radeon HD 4870 had a bunch of them.
