Hi all.

Having an issue regarding a recent build I did for a family member less than a week ago.
Computer runs mint while it is working. Without warning it will completely shut down and not attempt to turn itself on.
Most of the time when attempting to turn back on there is no response from any component in the computer for a period of time after.

Computer Build:
CPU: Intel i7 6700k w/Antec Kuhler H1200 Pro H2O Cooler
Mobo: Gigabyte Z170X-Gaming 3
Ram: Kingston HyperX Fury 2400mhz 16gb
GPU: Gigabyte G1 GTX1070 8gb
HDD: Kingston SUV400S37 480gb SSD
PSU: EVGA Supernova G2 750W
OS: Windows 10 Home 64bit

Troubleshooting done:
CPU:
- not overclocked ever.
- ran at 100% load for 20 minutes. unable to replicate fault. temperature never exceeded 30degrees.
RAM:
- tested all different configurations.
- ran all modules at 100% load for 20 minutes. unable to replicate fault. temperatures normal.
GPU:
- removed completely and used onboard graphics. issue still occured.
- ran at 100% load for 20 minutes. unable to replicate fault. temperature never exceeded 50degrees.
- attempted running at 4 different fan speeds. (default, 50%, 70% 100%)
PSU:
- stress tested cpu, ram, gpu to 100% all at same time. Tried to draw as much power as possible. Would not replicate fault.
- swapped between psu vga port 1-4. fault still occurs.
- tried switching between ECO and Performance mode. No change
- replaced power cable for gpu.
- tried different wall outlet.
- new power cable.
Software:
- updated BIOS
- updated all drivers
- used previous GPU drivers

Basically all this machine does 98% of the time is play Overwatch. The random shut down occurs completely at random. It can be almost immediately after turning on. Without anything open. Or it could be after 1hr+ of gameplay. I have tried stress testing every component in the computer and am unable to force the fault to occur.

My conclusion is that the PSU is at fault. Reason being is that when the random power off occurs. The computer will not respond at all for anything up to 10 minutes sometimes. Even after unplugging from the wall, holding down power for 30sec to discharge. If the motherboard was at fault I would expect a series of beeps/lights flickering etc to indicate. Gpu not at fault as it was removed and fault still occured. ram, cpu&hdd definately not faulty.

I figured I would ask for a group opinion before i take PSU back for a DOA and replace with another.

Appreciate your time reading.

    Yep..I would RMA/return it.

There should be a PSU Tester included with the 750 G2 that you connect to the 24-pin connector to manually force it on as described in the 750W/850W G2 manual..Any time it does not immediately turn on (and the fan spin with ECO Mode disabled) with the PSU Tester connected, then it's for sure that the PSU is bad.
