Hi guys,

My new gtx970 ftw is running idle at ~45C and when I´m gaming it jumps to 75C~
I´m just letting the fans on AUTO settings on Precision X, and they run about 35% of speed to maintain those 75C~

My question is: Should I manually set my fans to about 60% and let my temperature at 65C~ or I should just let the fans on auto and temps at 75C~?

Im running 2 monitors but none is above 120hz

I know it´s not a very high temp but I also know it´s not the best temp. I´m not sure if I supposed to be changing fan speed.

No overclocks. I live in Brazil so kinda hot in here.

Thanks

    Hello,

fan speed and card temperature are a personal preference for most. As long as your card stays under 80 Celsius I would say there is no need to adjust fan curve. When you see it reach over 80-83 Celsius the card might thermal throttle or stop GPU boost which is not good for performance. If you find your card reaching over 80 Celsius it may be a good option to use a custom fan curve in order to preserve performance and temperatures.

    Thanks for the reply!

I think it might have something to do with me running 2 monitors. None of them high high mhz.

I was researching and found an article talking aboud nvidiainspector and how to set things up properly... not sure if it´s my case tho

what case do you have? whats your intake cfm? whats your exhaust cfm?
your card will just disperse the heat in to your case.

your card will just disperse the heat in to your case.

Making sure that you have proper flow through your case is important otherwise the heat is being dispersed into the same air which, as it gets warmer and warmer, will eventually become too inefficient for your card to maintain the same level of operation and once it hits that 80°C threshold it will start throttling to protect itself from being damaged by the heat.

Ambient room temperature will affect the transfer as well since you'll be effectively starting at a higher temperature, though unless your room is over 35°C it's probably not your biggest concern as the operating temps can double that

Thanks all for the answers - my room temp is about 25c
I use an NZXT H2 with all 3 sotck fans (1200rpm, not sure about the cfm) - 2 in front and 1 in rear
I could just take the front door off of it to increase airflow.

Also, I have a viper akasa 140mm that I won in a promotion and it´s just sitting here. Is it better if I put it on the top window of the chassis to pull the hot air out of it with the rear 120mm stock fan or is it better if I make a hole on the side and put it to dump cool air direct into the vga/mobo?
