Not only does Steam have horrible support, they use third party moderators for the only support you will actually get, on the forums... Pretty sad days for Valve.

Third party Moderators? I'm guessing they don't even have a Tech Support guy in the forums during the day.  LOL

Steam Community is a cesspool of unaccountable shadow moderators that are usually out of control fanboys. The vast majority of action taken in the game boards aren't from the game developers which usually just stick to creating sticky threads, but rather unknown volunteers that usually run amok attempting to protect the precious. The best example of this is when they literally shut down access to post anything unless you specifically own the game on Steam.

I actually just got banned from the steam forums for asking a question. With no answers, the mods locked the thread. I requested to know why the thread was locked, and again, alwith no answer the thread was locked.

The third time, I requested to know why they were locking my threads, they banned me and said I was trolling, which opened a line of dialogue they couldn't lock. I asked why they had locked and banned me, and they said I should learn to use google. That was all they would say, lol.

I simply asked why other users couldn't see which games VAC bans were against on a user's profile.

Valve has become a try-hard with all the hardware crap they now want to shove down our throats along with their silly OS. Plus they sure do love to buy up smaller studios just to market the mods as full Valve produced games. In fact I seem to recall one of the first studios they bought out happened to release a Half-Life engined mod as a full game WHICH in turn bombed hard. Something like that. I forgot the exact particulars behind it.

The sad part, is that I used really be behind Steam. Used to think it was the greatest thing. However, lately I have been waiting for someone to come along with a better solution/company. Steam has lost its appeal.

Honestly, with Amazon getting into digital downloads, if you're a prime member, that might be your best bet right now, if you want to avoid Steam and buying steam purchases. (Do I hear any protestors? )

I hated Steam and considered it to be bloatware after I purchased my first game that required it to be installed. I was furious. I eventually got over it and just learned to live with it. In case you're wondering I still hate Steam and that fat pompous arrogant bloated whale of an owner.

I'm not trying to sound stupid here, but you got mad at Steam because you had to install the game? were you thinking that you could purchase the game, and be able to play it over the internet via the Steam browser?
Seriously though, that would be a cool feature.
I'm not quite sure the bandwidth would be available for this, but if it were, there would be countless ways to be able to make sure the accounts are secure... lock the Mac address to the account, or IP, Email, Phone #, Security questions...and so forth.
ANd never have to install the game on your PC, just "stream" (e.g. Assassin's cread Syndicate) right over the steam browser through internet...nice.

I only bought it for the single player campaign. Even way back then I knew I couldn't match wits with players half my age in a multi-player match. I have to drink three of four pots of coffee just to hold my own in Battlefield 3 or 4!

The only thing I like is the cloud storage for game progress though I'm not sure if it will update my games on the other PC I have. I may have to Copy and Paste the game's saves file to the other PC. We shall see!

Steam has been ruining PC gaming for a long time and for some unknown reason few people actually call them out on it, but instead act like Valve is doing something positive. Let's take a look at what Valve as contributed......

Forced advertisement platforms to play a game.
Episodic content that offers less content, but for more cost to the consumer both in lengthy delivery and cost than a traditional game release
Repackaging once free mods to make them paid mods
Locking consumers into a digital store front which is clearly a violation of anti trust laws. e.g. if you buy a game on Steam you also have to buy all additional released content for that game on Steam as well. You cannot buy it from somewhere else and use it with your Steam version unless the developers have completely sold out to Steam using Steamworks to force all consumers onto the platform. This is why EA completely left Steam.
Being unable to control your game and what version you wish to play. Forced patches if you ever want to even run the program again.
Monetizing basic "community" features such as how many contacts a person can have via a stupid marketplace which Valve double dips into every purchase/sale on top of an additional game developer cut.
Made gambling via games mainstream. The most played games on Steam are all gambling orientated which the actual game being just a platform to do it on.
Made early access mainstream, because why not pay for products that in a real marketplace have no value?
Monetization of individual mods for paid games....This will be making a comeback.

PC gaming now days is less about the actual game and more about everything else.

Not all games, I just got the guy removed from the Fallout 4 Steam support discussion forums for the fanboy fit he pulled on me, when I asked him if he would look at my Fallout 4 performance guide for newer AMD R9 gpu owners, and asked if he would sticky it.

Nope off of all of them now thank you, weened myself off of every pill the VA forced down my throat. Part of the cost of serving your country in combat. What does that have to do with the post? Thanks for asking though ;)

Are you talking about specific games? The game developers self-moderate their own forums on Steam.

Not all games, I just got the guy removed from the Fallout 4 Steam support discussion forums for the fanboy fit he pulled on me, when I asked him if he would look at my Fallout 4 performance guide for newer AMD R9 gpu owners, and asked if he would sticky it.

You must be on your last leg with all those pills, in your mod rig picture...

Nope off of all of them now thank you, weened myself off of every pill the VA forced down my throat. Part of the cost of serving your country in combat. What does that have to do with the post? Thanks for asking though ;)

Nothing at all, I just went to look at your computer in mod rigs and noticed...
