Guess you'll have to just remove it before booting; and give the feedback to Rift

If your PC goes to sleep does it wake without any issues?

Have you tried enabling fast boot mode yet?

Three freezes in a row now with my CH products plugged in the front panel USB's.  This time I unplugged the throttle first, but it didn't load windows until I unplugged the CH Fighterstick as well (the issue must not be tied to a certain peripheral).  USB Legacy support was still disabled.  My BIOS settings are saving as they should.

Seems like a really stable XMP 1 setting so I hate to change it just for this strange USB hangup. Everything else is working top notch.  Here's hoping for some better USB drivers for Windows 10.

It is doing awesome in benchmarks.  Just got a 15541 in FireStrike and 41660 on the Skydiver (better than 99% of all results ).  Runs perfect the entire time it is on.  Only issue is the strange USB hangups on startup.

I'm going to throw this out there because when I used XMP Profile 1 it set the FSB across the board to 125Mhz!!! I have since remedied this by manually setting it myself to 100 and changing the ram timings accordingly. Why did I do this? First high bus speeds like that impact every device in your system.  USB ports, Hard drives, PCI-E slots, etc.  It also down clocked my CPU from 3.3Ghz to 3Ghz. To remedy this I set the FSB to 100 and the Multi to 33, Ram is set to the closest I can get to the actual speed of my RAM(3000) which is 2666 and the rest i set according to the XMP Profile. I did this by setting the XMP profile, then wrote down the various settings and then set them manually.  I'm having no issues what so ever at this point. If you're curios I'm using the X99 Classified, 5820k i7, and Corsair Dominator Plats 4x4.  Try setting the defaults and then check manually setting everything the same way and see if this fixes your issue.  I just don't recommend using that high of a FSB if you can avoid it.

Just a thought - turn OFF USB boot in BIOS "other device" in boot order

Maybe the system cannot figure out that those devices are not bootable

Re: X99 classified boot issues - USB related 2016/03/14 11:20:14 (permalink)
Hey guys,

I've got a Gigabyte X99 Gaming G1 with the same issue.

Have a Fanatec ClubSport Base V2 and noticed that as long as the base switch was OFF, I could boot. If powered ON, boot hang up.

I also have 3 CH Products Flight Controllers (Pedals, Yoke, Quadrant). They also hang up if plugged in.

So I got an idea from the Fanatec ClubSport Base and got a Orico external powered USB hub that has an ON/OFF switch. Plug the hub into the computer USB port, then plug the 3 CH Products Controllers into the Orico hub and keep it switched OFF while booting. Then turn ON at the Windows desktop.

Problem Solved.

I also had to turn off the xHCI because the Intel USB driver would tell me I had "too many devices connected" when I only had a few connected. With the xHCI disabled the ports only work at USB 2.0 speed but I don't care because I only have 1 USB 3.0 device anyways.

Sounds more like a Windows 10 issue and not USB issues.
I disabled USB legacy mode on my R4 and now it boots fine.

Hey all,
Since I put away the DK2 and plugged in the Rift and the Vive I haven't had one single issue during start up.  I have also updated the BIOS since my issues, so there could have been a fix in there as well.  I held off on posting because I didn't want to jynx it hahahaha.  Over a month of daily usage without a single hangup (knock on wood).

Maybe it was just a DK2 conflict all along.
