A gsync monitor is on my list of wants. Do the free sync monitors work with Nvidia as well, or is proprietary?

Will they work right now? No. Can they work if nvidia wanted them to? Yes. Freesync is done though an open source method on the display, all it would take is nvidia allowing it in their drivers.

You trying to say Nvidia dont have this active at all times? Are you serious? is this how low Nvidia has become? They create the Gsync to work in their cards and yet they shut that off? Wow dude, i am blown away to know this type of crap still happening.
As per the post, i thank you for coming forward and expressing your opinion about it. It makes me want to buy and try it myself so i can be smacked into reality of not getting it one sooner. I still game, is in my blood, and to know i can have a better experience on buying a better monitor? then by all mean is worth the investment.

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

Yes very, I was wrong on the third company=) I think Acer has more than one if my memory serves me right, Yup they have three. I think the third company came to mind due to reading reviews on all the displays coming in April that will lower the cost of both freesync and g-sync displays. You're welcome buttercup always happy to amuse someone ;)

DANNNNGG I stand corrected, that is a sweet looking display. I guess I meant display that you can buy. The acer is the only one available in the retail sector currently.

You should see the other Acers, they are really nice as well but you get what you pay for. The only issue with the G-Syncs most of the IPS available right now are 3-4ms I do believe. April and after is probably going to be the best time to think about jumping on the bandwagon unless you can snag one now on sale. I had been thinking for some time of getting a G-sync while I was on nvidia when I saw the demo in store. But the Titan X just lacked too many features on the workstation end. Its why I switched teams 620 bucks I got to have my cake and eat it too just had to sacrifice some FPS in the proccess on some games. But UHD I would not recommend to anyone with just one GPU, if you are thinking about it you really have to keep in the G-sync range or the fun tearing starts. 1080p and 1440p are probably perfect right now where tech is standing, 1440p seems to be the sweet spot. Acer has some nice huge Ultra wide UHD/4k's w/g-sync but you are looking at 1200-2k They stay sold out most of the time but yes those fall under QHD.

I am very interested to see what display port 1.3's bandwidth will bring us in terms of display quality. Dell's OLED 4k has been said to run at 120hz natively over dp 1.3 (obviously no gsync) but still that is incredible. I think we may see 1440p at 240hz soon as well.

You can have Gsync turning on only when you are in full-screen ,or you can have it running consistent while in window mode, running full time, including full screen.
So, if you have applied GSYNC to run only when in full screen, and you go back to windows, it will turn off.

No matter what isle you are on gaming Green/Red if you do not have a Gsync/Freesync display you have no idea what you are missing get one! I have been gaming on the pc for about three decades. That wonderful tearing you just get used to ignoring it, turning on vsync. Well I got my first monitor with the Freesync tech in it and its just amazing. I am just blown away, that tearing is gone, no more vsync. I wish this tech existed a long long time ago. It makes a huge difference in any game you play, I thought it was just a gimmick until I said you know what screw it, jumping head first buying a freeysnc display. This is defiantly something that is worth investing in. Just be sure to buy the display for the gpu team you will be staying with. It is one of those things that you will not believe it/understand it until you see it with your own eyes.

So far I havent had the tearing you guys have talked about. I have a Sceptre 1900x1200 24" monitor. Maybe its the games I play (MWF3). Video cards have been GTX 295, GTX 980ti Hybrid. Neither card have I experienced tearing. I have been wanting the Newer 144hz monitors but not liking the problems that come with them. Lots of bad reveiws on RMA due to Bleed and Bad Pixels.

What do you mean "uh no"? your screen shot just made my point correct....

I have a gsync monitor too. the two options specifically say you can have it active during full screen, or you can have it run in full screen and window. If you have it in option 1, Gsync is then enabled in Fullscreen mode only. Sounds like I said that twice, and your screenshot is just adding to it...lmao

Maybe I should be glad of certain things.

A: Im clueless or...
B: My eyes are worse than I thought.

I've never really seen what every body calls screen tearing.  Or perhaps I've seen it and didn't know what it was.  Or perhaps I've seen it and just dealt with it.  I have a coworker who insists he can see the difference between 60Hz and 120Hz.   Personally, I can't.  Both look the same to me.

My monitors and Dell U2713HM.  Not the best in the world, but certainly not the worst.  While I would love to replace them with some of these new 120Hz or 144Hz monitors would be nice, but not really cost effective.  Plus it doesn't matter anyway as Em apparently oblivious to the effect that they are designed to help eliminate.

I have the G-sync version. I was using 144hz triples before, but my situation right now is cramped for space (that's my lame excuse). Love the color, love the aspect, and yes I love G-sync. Can't say I'm super sensitive, but yes I had noticed some stutter on occasion before and now it's just silky smooth. Great for driving games. Wish I had three, but that's a little nuts and I'm waiting for Oculus for that... and maybe Doom which I'm thinking is going to be completely bananas on Oculus

Corrected again: Acer has recently released a 32" 4K IPS G-sync display (and I currently have it).

Forget Asus' stupid 27" model. 27" at 4K is a waste. 32" is better, but not where I'd like the sizing to be - can't be a chooser if you're begging though. Maybe someday...

Awesome looking monitor but 60Hz seems a bit limiting.
Maybe not immediately but monitors stick around on our desktops a lot longer than GPUz at least they do for me
Wow I could have bought 3 of my 27" 144 hz free sync monitors for that much

The minute they make a 4k 120hz g-sync monitor (and there's a video card that can support that by itself) is the minute I'll jump to 4k. Until then, it's 1440p for me. I swore off SLI after the 700 series because most of the titles I seem to play/played had horrible or no SLI support.

That said, G-sync/Freesync really is one of those things that you can debate without using, but until you do actually sit down and experience it for yourself, you won't really know what you're missing. I could never go back to a regular monitor now.

Personally, I will never go back to not having g-sync. Ever since I've had my Swift, I've been in love with the tech, and the 27" and 1440p doesn't hurt either ;p. I even decided to get rid of a 980 as two was not needed for anything with g-sync.

Yes, Gsync is well worth it in every avenue. Am I being a Fanboy right now? Maybe... But if you don't have it, you won't know what the real experience is about until you really have it. Anyone who doesn't have it, or have never experienced it, has no say so about it, or can express their opinion about it other than calling someone else, who does have it, a fanboy, or saying it's "too hyped", because they don't know. It's this awesome... Better pictures, more color, less input lag, crisper images (YES). Sometimes, 1080p with Gsync almost looks better than a picture at 4k with no gsync.

The only issue is the heavy burden on price. It can be highly marked up. It is for a reason.

When it first came out, I read heavily about it, as it sounded interesting.  Honestly, I figured early adopters would be plagued with some seriously oddball problems and once it got going that is would be good, but honestly I was not sold on it.  Then I worked Blizzcon 2013 or 2014 and checked out the demo for GSync, and I was sold, the tech demo was VERY noticeable, and there were a couple games going, side by side GSync and no Gsync.  Seeing one solo and playing you could definitely feel it, but side by side the difference jumped out at me.
I have a GSync monitor now, I love it, do not regret the purchase, I also do not see myself going back.  If I had the space and the extra cash, I would love 2 more.

As with anything Your mileage may vary, and as some have said before, their eyesight isn't the best so they didn't see much of a difference, like with me 3d just looked like layers, like a popup book from the 80's.  Others said the depth was amazing.  So if you are skeptical, try and find some place that has a demo and try it out and see for yourself.

+1

Its something you have to see for yourself, if you get the chance to get on a wide range for the sync tech its even better. High FPS is just as important as its low FPS count to keep the sync tech going. Chances are once you see it, you are like must have where was this years ago.
