Just bought the ASUS ROG PG27AQ monitor, didn't realize it was out til today, it's what I've been waiting for, has everything on it (well not OLED but that can wait another 2 years at least) First time I've had a Gsync monitor, hopefully it'll allow me not to have to upgrade my GPUs for awhile as I can handle lower FPS than I otherwise would. (I've gotten addicted to 60 FPS with vsync on) Just hoping that everyone that was raving about Gsync was telling the truth when they said you can really see the difference. Anyone else have this monitor, or thoughts on it?

I have the original Swift and can say that I will not be going back to regular v sync. I love it. The only gripe with mine is the TN panel, but whatever. Congrats on the new monitor, enjoy it.

We need a review once you get it. I've been looking at this monitor for a while; still trying to decide between a 4K and a 1440 144. I've been using IPS for so long that I can't go back to TN, so the earlier G-Syncs aren't really an option.

Gsync is the real deal and once you see it you'll never go back. I think 2k is the sweet spot for gaming. Getting 60 frames in 4k initially is expensive and then you have to maintain that performance with upgrades. With 2k you can do it with a single GPU that is much cheaper and get framerates higher than 60 which are great for FPS gaming. I don't view 4k gaming being viable for people with budgets.

How is the quality, I know the old Swift has very bad reviews and that has kept me from buying. Also, I cant find this at any of the major retailers, here in the US, but it seems everywhere in Europe.

It's the best monitor I've ever used. Why people would think it's bad is beyond me, but this is the internet after all. When a company continues a product line it also is an indication of commercial success and thus customer satisfaction.

Sounds like you got lucky, I been tempted to get one or two myself and I just might if this new one is going to be scarce outside of Europe for a while.

From my understanding, at launch, which was I think 1.5 years ago now, there were some QC issues on the Swift, from everything I have seen those issues are long since past. I personally have one and love it. Is the color as nice as it could be with a IPS, no, but the speed is amazing. I would agree with Fearpoint right now that 2k is the sweet spot. In a generation or 2 of video cards AND the the next generation of display port, I think the potential of 4k 120hz IPS GSync will be great, but until then, I will stick with 1440p 144hz GSync, for me, it checks all the boxes; and a single good card can drive 1440p well, and SLI of high end cards can keep it up at 120-144 all day long and the gameplay is soooo smooth with that. @OP may I ask, what GPU(s) are you running on?

I'm running 3 GTX 980s for my new monitor, it looks good, a tiny bit a backlight bleeding around the edges, but isn't as bad as some of the reviews I've seen on it so far. Granted the color isn't quite as good as my dell 4k (without Gsync) the dell also has a perfect backlight with zero bleed. to be honest, for it's pricepoint it shouldn't be outperformed by a monitor costing $400 less in every way other than Gsync. If I had to do it over again, I'd wait for a Dell Gsync as they seem to do monitors well. (P2715Q is the dell model I'm comparing it too) Gsync is nice, as I've gotten very used to 60 FPS and notice when it drops even a little on a normal monitor, Gsync lets it drop a moderate amount without even noticing, and is less less noticable when it drops a lot.

The real question is could you go back to PC vidya without Gsync? I know I couldn't. I tricked myself for too long to accept screen tear and now that I've been liberated I can admit my mistake. :)

congrats on the new monitor! I was considering this as well, but I settled on the Xr3501. Both were the same price. After gaming in 120HZ +, I can't stand to game with less. Because of the 2560x1080 res on this monitor, I can easily drive most games at the full 144hz. Once you enable AA, and all options on high, games look RAD in 21:9. Happy gaming with your awesome monitor!!! :)

Oddly enough I've decided to send it back, the backlight wasn't a huge problem like some of the reviews showed, but it wasn't perfect either, colors are worse than my dell, and Gsync seems to be lost when it enters/exits sleep mode til a system reboot, it also does this odd flickering that makes me uncomfortable when it comes back on from sleep for a few seconds, all in all, not worth the $900 price tag I had to pay. the Gsync aspect didn't seem to do as much as I was expecting from it. it might pass as a decent monitor, but not at a $900 price point with these issues. Might wait for a dell 4k with Gsync, or even for a OLED monitor that's at a reachable price for me before upgrading again.

I just picked this monitor up for 465 shipped. OP, I know you returned yours, but would you have kept it at this price point?

EVGATech_DaveB convinced me to purchase a g-sync display earlier this year and I must say you dont immediately notice a difference however if you turn off g-sync it is very noticeable going back and forth.

This monitor was garbage... I have BenQ Xl2720z monitor and the colors looked MUCH better on it - and that other monitor is a TN panel. No comparison. The whites looked really grey. It's too bad - because $465 for that monitor was a great deal - and it had nearly 0 back-bleed (IPS glow) on dark black screens. It actually has inky blacks

well one thing I noticed, is that with most IPS panels compared to TN, the whites on the IPS panel tend to be more "yellowish-whites" white the TN tend to lean to "bluish-whites", the yellow side of white is a bit different compared to the blue that we're used too on most displays, but you can get used to it, and tends to have better "color accuracy" (colors looking like they are intended to look, which may not always be the most impressive colors, but sometimes the impressive colors are oversaturated a bit) And as asked above, for 465... I might go for it again, hmm, but still waiting for a few more options and better pricing compared to what is out there last I checked.
