I've been looking to pick up a 980ti hybrid the last few days. However, every single time I check Newegg price, it has changed. Yesterday the prices ranged from 689.99 to 749.99 depending on what time I checked their website out.

The card was always being sold from Newegg (not a different supplier selling on Newegg.) This seems absolutely atrocious to me. That's a difference of $60 just depending on when I refresh the page!

Does anyone have any insight into this? Is it cookie based? Do they change the price if I look something up and then return later to purchase it? I simply do not understand.

Well, the free game has been there throughout all the price changes. It was originally listed at like $729.99. Then, later in the afternoon, the price dropped down to $689.99. Now it's $749.99!

Newegg like most web shops track your browsing habits on their domain and will lower/raise prices accordingly especially if you routinely check out the same product. Amazon is notorious for this.

If you want to see this in action, go on Newegg and click a product. In a few hours you'll start getting emails about that product being on sale if your account is set to receive email offers.

Newegg also keeps having sales that last 72 hours or less.

Open a tab with item in Amazon, then a second tab with Newegg -- see if you get Newegg's best price

Yeah they probably do similar to amazon. Always mining for the lowest prices out there, then they adjust theirs to match. Fearpoint covered another tactic that Amazon also uses. I like adding stuff to my "wish" list and Amazon will eventually tell me that the price is in the range that I'm willing to pay. :)

Yeah, I messed around with it for a little bit, but the price hasn't changed on Newegg since the $729.99 price. It's been 689.99 on Amazon the entire time. I just found it really weird that their price would fluctuate so much so quickly. It's was seriously like a yo-yo.
