So setting Zuhl's exploits for a moment.  I thought I would bring up a discussion that's been somewhat ongoing about Fallout 4 between a friend and myself.  Well okay, it's less of a discussion and more like ridicule of the person who thought this was a good idea.

Why do laser weapons require recoil reduction mods?

That's a good question.
I'm guessing here. Maybe Bethesda figured that their designed laser weapons had some recoil and placed that into the game for better stability. I believe that when shooting an ingame laser it does give an indication that there is some recoil.

In reality I never shot a laser weapon and don't know if there is or isn't recoil associated with it. Maybe your friend has and KNOWS what it's like.

This is our argument about it.  And we're both in agreement.   It's a beam of light.    When you switch on a really bright LED flashlight does it try to jump out of your hand?

I found an excellent rant video that amusingly and somewhat coherently dives into the whole science of it, but due to language Im not sure if I should or could post a link to it.    So I'll say "link on request".

I did a search and according to what I read, it's reported as negligible recoil.

Your friend should keep in mind that it's a game.

A beam of light? Yes. But is there anything that creates that light that can cause recoil?

Actually, it was me who initially brought it up.  And we're not coming to blows over it or anything.  This is more a debate while having a beer.

And not to start another debate.  This is meant to be more of a "why did they do that" discussion.

From what I have read about past Bethesda games (FO 3), they were known for doing things to reference about something else in real life. For example a TV show/series that was funny/stupid and they would do something along those lines.

Ok, I'll buy that but the owners manual didn't say anything about it. That may also be the reason why I hear a lot of noise coming from it. One moment it is grinding and the next it is squealing. But the nasty one was the smell. It smelled like crap and I couldn't stand it anymore. I sold it to the Armor Dealer in Sanctuary.

Fallout 3 was OK after I modded the config file but it still crashed a lot on me. Since I had done everything that could be done I finally removed it from my main PC. It's still on my backup PC that I upgraded to Windows 10. If I get a chance to try it I will see if it is more stable on a i5-4690k since it doesn't have HT and it isn't OC yet.

Yes I installed that texture pack as well. Very rear crash, than I need to press alt ctrl del because Fallout 3 stop responding...
But I think that could be fixed with Run program as administrator and change  to compatibility mode or some similar tweak.
For Fallout 4 I think need a lot video memory.

I have Fallout 3 setup to run at 7680X1440 running multiple texture mods.   I've had a couple of crashes, but most of them were directly traced to a mod.

Windows 7 if it matters.

For the moment, I've put Fallout 4 on hold.

When I first started FO 3 on Win 7 I had a lot of crashes but for me the game was awesome. After a while I started getting tired of the crashes and did the Win 7 INI tweak. That was almost the end of the crashes. You still had to save a lot. But I did NOT have any mods running with it and that may have been the difference.

Well, I found Atom Cats garage and stole myself some of their Power Armor. I am so ashamed but Power Armor is Power Armor, right? I also found out how to defeat the Synth guards in the tunnel so they are done and gone for good. Maybe I'll be getting more Railroad quests now. I go to inspect my quarters and a Courser is supposed to meet me there but never shows up. I can't do anything until I meet this Courser. I hope I didn't kill him in the Wasteland.

These Quarters are in the Institute. The are given to me by Father after I completed the quest "Synth Retention". A Courser is kind of like a Synth Mercenary with ungodly combat abilities and stealth capabilities who hunts down and retrieves escaped Synths.

I am trying to clean up Cait so she will fall in love with me and the assultrons guarding Vault 95 are kicking my butt! I have a high powered sniper rifle and even when I sneak up on the ledge, toss grenades and get 2x sneak attacks, those darn robots come and rip my face off. I have a stealth boy but I want to save it till I really need it. I love how tough this game is and I can't wait to go back through it again as the biggest jerk possible stealing from everyone and killing every living thing i come across.

Cait likes it when you pick locks. Whenever you pick a lock you'll notice in the upper left corner it will say "Cait liked that". After you pick a few locks and Cait likes it then talk to her. It should give you the option to flirt. After you flirt so many times Cait will just engage you in a conversation where you can flirt some more and tell her you love her. I got shot down a few times before she finally caved and loved me back. After that I got the "Lover's Embrace" perk. I can get any sleep without Cait crawling into bed with me after that.

I have to warn you that Cait must be part rabbit. Every morning she gets up limping and complaining about how she must have pulled a muscle or given herself a cramp. You're playing with fire with that woman!

I hate the Synths. They have been nothing but a pain to my backside.

A "Synth Mercenary"? That's all I need. Do they attack humans? Are these Synth Mercenaries with wheels or legs? I ran into a few (Assaultrons?) with legs and they ARE tough.

You should be close to one of your settlements and can lure it into the settlement's defense guns. Defense lasers help out quite a bit. Also, if you have some frag land mines you can sneak to the ramps and place the mines there, then move back a distance and with your sniper rifle make it rain lead.

Good luck with Cait. Casanova err I mean Zuhl is the expert when romancing the FO 4 ladies. Right or wrong he'll steer you in a direction. LOL
