Rookie here with a quick question...

My old power supply had one square 4 pin AUX power cable (4pin ATX?) for the mother board. I'm getting today a EVGA 220-G2-0550-Y1 80 PLUS GOLD 550W to replace it. The list of connectors included are:

1 x 24-Pin ATX
1 x 8-Pin (4+4) EPS (CPU)
2 x 8-Pin (6+2), 1 x 6-Pin PCIE
9 x SATA
3 x FourPin Peripheral
1 x Floppy

I have been reading online and I believe that the 8-Pin (4+4) EPS (CPU) is split into two square 4 pin connectors and I can use only one for my mother board.

Right? Wrong?

Thanks

Yes, if your MB only has a connection for one, 4-pin EPS, then you can use either of the split 8-pin to power your CPU.

    Welcome to the Forums!

Yes you are correct. You can use one of the 4-Pin connectors and have the other 4-Pin connector un-used.
