well last 2 days have been interesting i have been playing Rise of the Tomb raider last few days, and my computer keep crashing and rebooting,, so did a little digging around and found my 12V rail is dropping down to 11.5V. its been a good PSU for the last 5 years, (march 21th 2011) i believe its on a 7-10 year warranty still? i don't remember lol.. anyways looking at the PSU's Evga and Corsair both have pricing issues,, 1000 watts is around $150+ and 1200 watts is around $250+ ??? 200 watts = $100?? seems a bit steep to me.
anyways are Evga power supply's wired the same as Corsair? i got a bunch of cables for my Corsair and don't want to buy more lol

I wouldn't take the chance of using another manufacturer's cable in a different PSU. It can cause major issues.

11.5 is still within the acceptable range. Is the number fluctuating every couple of seconds or is it fairly steady for 30-60 seconds without change? You should be getting a reading within 11.4v-12.6v. As far as the wiring you should be able to see the exact configurations in the pictures on the website. If its a modular PSU then most likely you can use your old cables without issues.

As far as the cabling, I would take the advice of Zuhl3156. They definitely know what they are talking about. I havent personally had this issue but I haven't been as active in the forums to know if this could potentially cause a problem.

it's 12v no load and drops down (all voltage does) when under load, here is a fast Screen shot of 3 minutes of folding *Everything is downclocked. cpu is at 4.1ghz gpus are stock most fans are unplugged and a hard drive is unplugged no leds on **didn't start to voltage drop tell 2 days ago, before then it never dropped below 12v

I just dealt with random reboots a few weeks ago on my 850 G2, turned out to be dying 12V rail. Just received replacement today and it's stable at 12.144 :D. Last 850 G2 was 12.144 but every 10-30 seconds it was changing to 12.091 causing the reboot.

+1 You would need to check the pin-out for both PSUs -- so Do NOT assume it is safe Sounds like you correctly diagnosed the PSU. Unless your wall outlet voltage is unstable - seems reasonable the PSU is past its prime. Any large appliances on this circuit? microwave, laser printer etc. I run a UPS to both filter and give stable power to the PSU.

Warning! Do not use another manufacturers cables in the Evga Power Supply. The pinouts may be different which could cause damage to your hard drives, mother board, etc.

As I pointed out earlier, even the different cable sets are not interchangeable between different models of EVGA power supplies. Each model PSU has its own dedicated pinout and appropriate matching set of cables.

I was just reiterating what you said, but in a more aggressive manner. To help get the point across. :P
