Folks,
I am trying to get an Intel SSD 750 working with my Windows 10 system. Motherboard is EVGA's P55 LE E653. Intel's SSD Toolbox can see the drive but i'm not able to see it anywhere else.
When I try to use Intel's Data Migration tool I get the message, "Please connect Intel SSD drive. An Intel Solid State Drive was not found...".
I can see it in the Device Manager's Disk Drive section labeled, "NVMe INTEL SSPDEDMW40".
I have updated to the latest BIOS and latest Intel device drivers for the SSD but nothing seems to work.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Phil

Welcome to the forum ph99004

Are you trying to use this as a boot drive or additional storage?

Does your MB support NVMe?

What CPU are you using ?

Which PCIe slot did you put the 750 in?

Is it X4?

Win 10 should "see" the SSD with native drivers.

Can you see the drive using Control Panel >>> Administrative Tools >>> Computer Management >>>  Storage >>> Disk Management?  Did you set the SSD partition as active using Disk Management in the Administrative tools?

Re: P55LE and Intel SSD 750 2016/02/08 17:02:02 (permalink)
Basic requirements
To use as a bootable drive, you need:
  • A system based on an Intel® Z97 Chipset or an Intel® X99 Chipset
  • uEFI BIOS settings enabled with NVMe support (latest BIOS updates)
  • Airflow across the drive to provide cooling, such as a front fan and rear fan
  • An available PCIe 3.0 connector (for HHHL SSD) or a PCIe-capable Mini-SAS HD connector (SFF-8643) for the 2.5 inch SSD (SAS signals not supported)
  • Microsoft Windows* 7, 8, or 8.1 operating system
    • NVMe driver installed – follow instructions in the boot guide
To use as a secondary data drive:
  • System with x4 PCIe connector
    • A system based on an Intel® Z97 Chipset or an Intel® X99 Chipset is suggested
  • uEFI BIOS
  • Airflow across the drive to provide cooling, such as a front fan and rear fan
  • An available PCIe 3.0 connector (for HHHL SSD) or a PCIe-capable Mini-SATA HD connector (SFF-8643) for the 2.5 inch SSD
  • Microsoft Windows* 7, 8, or 8.1 operating system
    • NVMe driver installed after OS boot

Cool GTX: SSD 750 supports NVMe and PCIe. Trying to migrate over HDD with Win10 to SSD for increased speed. Intel i7, not sure speed but around 2.6G if my memory serves me (I'm at work still). Not sure which PCIe slot I put it in. I will check when I get home.

Thanks for your comments. I will be home in about 2 hours and then I will respond with more details.

I believe the EVGA motherboard I have uses the Intel P55 chipset; hence the name EVGA P55 LE E653.

Does this mean that I can't use the Intel SSD 750 as a bootable drive using the PCIe interface?

Z97 or X99  is what Intel says you need for boot drive

Booting from an NVMe PCIe SSD is only supported on a system that supports UEFI, a new system firmware that endeavors to improve upon legacy BIOS and standardize system processes such as booting, loading drivers, and more.

It is important that the operating system installer is booted in UEFI mode to properly configure the operating system to also boot in UEFI mode.

Booting in UEFI allows the installer to create an entry in the UEFI boot menu and create an EFI system partition on the boot device which will contain the bootloaders of installed operating systems.

When the system boot process starts, the UEFI boot manager begins loading the UEFI driver imbedded within the firmware of the SSD.  This process allows the system firmware to access the SSD, including any partitions residing on the device. The boot manager will continue by searching the EFI system partition for a valid operating system bootloader. This bootloader is then executed to load the operating system.

Always enjoy helping other forum members.

Wish I had better news.

Going to have to use it as a data drive till you get a newer MB.

A M.2 PCIE card and a Samsung SM951  will give you speed without the NVME stumbling block.
