On my M5A99FX board I tried to use the GTX 660 Ti in the first slot and I installed the GT 640 in the second slot, machine would not boot.

I wonder what is wrong as I was wanting to test the cards with DX12 and the only game I have called Ashes of the Singularity in DX12 mode

both cards are UEFI upgraded

This appears to be a BIOS problem

outside of a PCI Espress Wi-Fi card, no other devices on the slots

Corsair TX850V2 has plenty of power

The PCIEX16_2 slot is an x4 mode slot not meant for NVIDIA graphics card configurations..Use the PCIEX16_3 slot.

Both cards are installed in the x16 slots, I am aware that NVIDIA cards, unlike AMD, want at least x8 lanes

AMD cards will work in x4 slots, which has some interest for DX12 and swarms of video cards

Just curious, I know you have tested the cards individually. Have you tested both slots individually? I've seen some bad slots in my day

So if you have them in the 1st and 3rd PCIe_X16 slots and not the 1st and 2nd slots as stated in your first post, I would update the BIOS if you haven't yet and go from there..If no joy, try the cards in the PCIe_X16 3rd slot like NO_sace said..Not sure if that board will boot up with a graphics card only in the 3rd slot though, some will, some won't.

All slots have been tested and work

To prove an illegal white list
I remove an NVIDIA card from slot 1, and replace it with a Radeon card, it POSTs fine

this is why i am so cynical
