My XSPC Photon 270 D5 pump's tach output is hooked up to the Micro2 CHA_FAN header. I have the variable flow setting on the D5 pump at 5 out of 5, but the board is only showing +/- 400-600 RPM.

Thought I should be showing 4,000+ RPM, is there something I'm missing??

Yes it should show at 5/5 about 4500 rpms. I don't really understand why rpm is so low, even below nominal 700 rpms.

My D5 pump on X99 Classy at about 3 and a bit/5 at CPU fan header.

Have you tried CPU FAN header? It shouldn't be an issue,  but I had some puzzling encounter with Enermax PSU fan years and years ago when it reported idiotic things unless I plugged it into CPU or PWR fan header.

Have you tried switching the fan header mode from PWM to DC? I know it's only picking up a reading so shouldn't matter but might do the trick?

(As a side note I'm running a D5 PWM on the Micro 2 and it won't run above 3480, equiv 3/5 for a vario)

Switched fan headers and now it's reading +/- 4,300 rpm. Weird.
