I'm actually pretty new to the UI of this forum despite the join date of the account (as I did not pay much attention to it).

But could anyone tell me why are there two exclamation marks on the top right hand corner of the interface, right next to my username?

To illustrate, the two exclamation marks are in "Welcome, [icon]deFiniLoGy !!..."

Thanks in advance!

Now thinking about it... You might be right after all. LOL

I was thinking about whether I have done something wrong and violated some random rules...

Like ManBearPig said, it's just exuberantly welcoming you to the forums. It looks like there's some extra space there to account for longer user names, so the exclamation mark(s) stand out a bit and look odd. Sorry for any confusion!

Sometimes there is one exclaimation mark and sometimes there are two. It is rather random and I don't think anyone has ever received a straight answer as to why. There are theories that it means that there is activity in a thread you have participated in recently or this or that, but all those theories don't seem to follow the actual trend of when you see one exclaimation mark or two exclaimation marks.

I normally find that if there are two exclamation marks it means that someone has posted in a thread that I am following but not always.

I never follow any threads and I randomly see double exclaimation marks. It seems that I see them double more often if I have been away for a while.

Well, I only had one a few beers ago and now I have two. IDK which is the problem. Someone is happy to see me or I've had too many pre-Superbowl brewskies.

lol

Happens to the best of them. You click the button. Nothing happens. You wait. You click it again. Nothing. Wait. Click it again... and eventually you have 4 or 5 posts in a row. It's the asynchronous query going through from you to the server but no response back to you which causes you to keep trying until you suddenly do get a response from the server saying that they were all received. Usually happens more often on cellular service or similarly spotty internet connection.

I'm special. I have two next to my name. Even though for me, I should technically have three.

It's how the webmaster gets entertainment. They randomly change it every once in awhile to drive the OCD types nuts.
