i just found out the hard way that updating a GPU driver while folding wipes all the progress to zero.
my file was apparently at 97% and now it is starting over. :-(
note to self ... check progress before updating.
i guess it would be best to click finish and stop then update it
ouch  All you need to do is pause the WU when updating drivers. Has always worked for me although finishing the WU is probably the safest

If your only folding on one GPU finish the work unit then update the driver. If your folding on more than one GPU shut down folding and exit FAHControle update drivers reboot then start folding again. Never lost a work unit doing it that way but will loose a few points on the current work units. You will loose a lot more waiting for the work units to finish due to having to wait so long as one will always finish first then your setting with one card not folding at all.

You should be able to move up through the ranks fairly easily from there. You'll find the going gets a lot tougher when you reach the top 300 folders. That where I got bogged down.

Reached it last night but it kept giving me the 990,000 certificate instead haha. A long way to go until I reach the next milestone of 10 mil though. :(

I'm going to have to build a dryer vent in the summer to exhaust all the heat out..lol. Now I can just leave the heat off and let the computer warm the whole place while folding :)

Here's to wishing 560 TI cards were cheaper. Going from 128 to 336 CUDA cores would be a sweet upgrade for my HTPC and would allow me to play more advanced games on my 46in LED-LCD TV.
If you're going to do that, go for a GTX 660 Ti, it's what I have now, and it can struggle with higher settings in games such as Tomb Raider. You probably don't want to step down much further, because you'll just have to upgrade sooner. I actually got a hold of a 3GB Asus card, and I can't find this thing ANYWHERE, so the higher price that I paid ~$260 is worth it for the extra time I can use it.
If you use a computer at night, check out f.luxResearch: https://justgetflux.com/research.htmlDownload: https://www.justgetflux.com/This reduces how blue (6500k) the screen is and looks better once you get used to it - the getting used to may take up to a week! Your screen will be "more orange" at night but it's for the best. In about 20 minutes your eyes won't even notice. A white paper should match your screen, maybe play with the monitor settings to get it closer.

I had to turn the heat on in my bedroom last night. Woke up and it was 55°F in my livingroom. It's already up to 62°F just browsing the web and such. I'm not certain which costs more, running the baseboard heaters or folding. Time to do some research.
