Have FIVE 1280 x 1040 LCD screens.  3 are connected via Radeon Graphics Cards.  Two by EVGA UVA Plus ... 12 ... and 19.   This setup worked well for a long time in Windows 8.  Very recently,  I was forced into a Windows 10 upgrade and am having tremendous difficulty getting my 5 monitors to work properly.   Windows 10 would not install any drivers.   I went to EVGA website and downloaded what they identified to be the proper driver for both UVA Plus 12 and 19 for 64 bit Windows 10 ... 7.9.478.0 dated 8/20/2015.   The problem is that only 1 of the 2 monitors connected via the two UVA Plus will come on.  The monitor is backlit slightly,  but nothing comes to screen.   Both UVA boxes are lit.   And,  I have tried all the usual things ... detect hardware changes,  unplugging the USB cable and plugging back in,  uninstalling driver and allowing Windows to attempt to find a driver.

Anyone else out there run into problems with UVA in a multi-monitor environment when transitioning to Windows 10?   Got a solution?  Recommendation?

No one can help with UV+ problem in Windows 10?

    5 monitors driven by:

AMD Radeon HD 7700 graphics card.  Driver 15.201.1151.1010 11/13/2015
ATI Radeon 3000 graphics card.  Driver 15.201.1151.1010 11/13/2015
    UVA Plus (12).  Driver 7.9.630.0 10/16/2015
    UV 195 (19).  Driver 7.9.630.0 10/16/2015

Only the UV+ 19 will work in Windows 10.  The UV+ 12 does not work.  Initially,  when I installed the driver, the screen came to life.  But after reboot,  nothing.

Are the Windows 10 drivers for UV+ still being worked?   Is this a known problem?  Or ... will the UV+ 12 simply not work in Windows 10?

I'm not familiar with that product so my suggestion would be to contact EVGA customer support.

I did contact support,  last week.  No response yet.

Suspect that the drivers to allow UV+ products to work with Windows 10 are still largely Beta,  with many issues remaining to be worked.

I am sorry to hear this. We have listed newer drivers than 7.9.478.0 that are 7.9 M3 drivers that you can download here. Please uninstall the current drivers and try them then plug in the UV+ units and see if there is any change. If you can try the UV+ on a different system all together.

Reviewing the previous e-mails from you I see that the responses were blocked by your e-mail service for possible spam. Please white list EVGA e-mails in order to receive the support responses. You can also call us 24/7 at 888-881-3842. When calling have the serial number handy for one of the UV+ units and make sure they are registered on your account and you can register them here.

    MattM,

I have already updated the UV+ Drivers to the very latest versions ... 7.9.630.0.   Still does not work.

    Recap of problem ...

5 monitors attached to Windows 10 desktop, upgraded from Windows 8.  When in Windows 8,  all monitors operated normally.   3 are operated via graphics cards.  2 via UV+ (1 UV12, 1 UV19).   All monitors are 19"   Samsung SyncMaster 940B ... 1280 x 1024.

Only 3 of the 5 monitors will work in Windows 10.  Of the two not working,  one is attached to the UV+ 12.

It could be a UV+ driver problem.  It could be a Windows 10 problem.  It could be a problem with the graphics card drivers.  But,  its a problem I simply can not resolve after about 30 hours of effort in trying various combinations of drivers and rotating how monitors are attached.

Graphics cards are using the latest drivers as well ..

    AMD Radeon HD7700  Driver: 15.201.1151.1010  Date: 11/13/2015
ATI Radeon 3000 same driver as above

Might be Windows 10 problem too.  When I go to control panel ... display ... change display settings ... Identify ... it simply will not identify the monitor attached with the UV+ 12.   Not only that,  but one of the monitors attached via a graphics card,  Windows 10 identifies it as #3 within control panel,  but when click "identify" ... a mirrored #1 comes to screen.   It's maddening.

10 is new.  All vendors are scurrying to catch up with driver updates.  I know there will be issues until some time passes and the software jockies address and fix all the issues.   And,  given the interplay here with 1 new operating system,  4 different graphics interfaces,  2 drivers ... who the heck knows what is causing the issue ... but just wanted someone within EVGA to know that your products are involved in the mix,  and there are issues somewhere causing them not to work.

No one within EVGA has contacted me via email.  I check my spam folder multiple times a day.  If someone from EVGA reached out to me,  I would know.

FWIW - As I research this issue on the internet, I am finding a significant number of people having difficulty with Windows 10 in a multiple monitor environment,  where they did not have problems before upgrading to 10.

Which is why I really hate Microsoft.  They are to blame for this mess.

    Further info:

After additional time spent.  This is definitely a problem with the UV+ drivers.  When I take them out of the equation,  everything operates normally with 3 screens.   When I put just one UV+ device into the equation,  the problems begin.

In addition to screen not working with anything connected to UV+ 12,  I have other odd issues when either UV+ used in this setup:

    1.  Does not matter which screen I assign as main monitor,  program icons only get planted on 1 given screen,  whether or not that specific screen is tagged as main monitor.

    2.  Some programs are opening up on the dead monitor,  so I don't get access.  Windows 10 also lacks a capability of moving a program from one screen to another,  so it is impossible to access anything opening up on a monitor that will not operate.

I'm starting to forgive Microsoft .... finding fault here with bad EVGA drivers.

    Hi jwillis44,

I am very sorry to hear that you are having a problem with Windows 10.  I have researched your case a bit and I am showing that you are trying to run a WDDM 1.1 driver for the Radeon 3000 and then a WDDM 1.20 driver for the Radeon HD7700.  Since you are already running two different Windows Display Driver Models in Windows 10 it is not abnormal that a third WDDM driver from the Display Link Monitors would then cause a problem.

Can you please confirm if the UV+ adapters work with just one of the two graphics cards installed?  I recommend just using the Radeon HD 7700 and completely removing the other Radeon 3000 for testing.

Also on a side note, I recommend trying to right click your taskbar and left click on "Cascade Windows" to see if this brings the programs back to the primary screen if this is still a issue for you.

Re: Need Windows 10 help with UVA Plus, 12 and 19 2015/11/20 11:04:16 (permalink)
    Chris,

Thank you for your suggestions.    Actually,  the same Driver is installed for both Graphics cards.   When I go to install a RADEON driver for either card,  it automatically installs for both cards.  I don't recall this happening in Windows 8.   But its happening in Windows 10.

I already tried the "Cascade Windows" command.  It does not work.  That will only cascade the windows on the same monitor on which the applications are running.  So,  if an application opens up on a monitor that is not functioning ... it's pretty much stuck there for good.   The only work around I found was to hot swap the monitor cables,  minimize the application and move it to a working monitor.  Then close it.  When starting the application next time,  it will open on a working monitor.  It took awhile for me to figure that out.  As it stands now though,  there is no way in Windows 10 to move an application from one monitor to another if you can not click on a non-working monitor.

There are other very strange things happening:

    1.  The UV+ 19 will not work unless I keep the UV+ 12 plugged in too.  So I must keep the UV 12 powered up although the monitor connected through the UV+ 12 will not operate.

    2.  If I boot up with both UV+ 19 and UV+ 12 disconnected,  then connect them both after boot up ... they both work.  Upon reboot or restart though,  only the 19 works,  not the 12.

I will try your test next,  only operating one card at a time to understand what happens then with the UV products.  However,  I need 5 screens.  While I might not understand the ins and outs of using graphics cards,  I believe I will need two cards and 2 UVs to run 5 screens?  If so,  just running one card is not a solution that will work.

There is another thing I am going to try first.  I have one screen connected thru the 7700,  two screens through the 3000,  then a screen each through the UV products.  I am going to reverse the use of the graphics cards.  I am going to connect two up to the 7700,  and only 1 to the 3000.   I had to order some HDMI to VGA cables however to do this.  It will be a few days before they arrive.   I'll post back later.

Thank you for the help.  I will keep working it and let you know if I can get it resolved.  If so .. how.   If not ... will let you know how UV products are acting if any different than now.   As it stands now though ... can only get the UV 19 to work.  UV 12 does not work.  And,  must keep UV 12 connected in order for UV 19 to work.

    Dear jwillis44,

Please let me know if you should need any further support with your EVGA products?  I can confirm that we have tested a UV12 and a UV19 on a Windows 10 machine with a EVGA GTX 980 graphics cards and we could not recreate any similar behavior.

    Chris,

Thank you for your effort in helping me.  I will be getting back to that machine at some point late next week.   It's at an offsite location.   I now have some HDMI to DVI cables so I can experiment with a different combination of graphics card connections.   Again,  I'm using two different graphics cards, along with a UV12 and UV19 ... to a 5 monitor set up.   So,  its a little more complicated than your test.   But,  when I find the issue (assuming I do find it),  I will post it back here.   But,  you've given me some guidance on things to try.   I thank you for that.

    CHRIS,

I do not know what is going on.  After spending an entire day,  I am still not successful in getting 5 monitors in Windows 10 to work in any combination of UV USB graphics adapters and graphics cards.   I have concluded that it is not an EVGA issue.  It must be a problem with the DisplayLink driver used for all these devices.   I went and bought a Diamond and a Sabrent USB graphics adapter.   Again,  I have an AMD Radeon HD 7700 card and ATI Radeon 3000 on-board graphics.    I have tried all possible combinations of ...

PCI HD 7700 graphics card or on-board graphics card being the main card
different combinations of DVI, VGA, HDMI cables
Swapping between Diamond, Sabrent, UV graphics adapters
1,2,3 or 4 montiors driven by cards vs 1,2,3,or 4 by graphics adapters

It does not matter what I do,  what I try ... I can NEVER get more than 4 monitors operating at the same time in Windows 10.

There is a problem somewhere.   But,  I simply no longer have the time to try to figure this out.   Its been an effort that has wasted days of time.

Please,  if you can replicate this at your facility ... and get 5 monitors to successfully work with UV adapters and Radeon HD 7700 card with HD 3000 on-board graphics,  tell me what you did to get it done.   I can't figure it out.

Re: Need Windows 10 help with UVA Plus, 12 and 19 2015/12/14 03:13:37 (permalink)
    Chris,

    More info:

Went back to graphics cards controlling 3 monitors,  UV adapters controlling 2.   Same effect.  Only 4 monitors will operate. When I go to control manager,  change display settings,  all five monitors are indicated as active.   I have tried absolutely everything possible ... different combinations of graphics adapters,  different mix of graphics cards and adapters,  different combinations of DVI, HDMI and VGA cables.  The net effect is always the same .. only 4 monitors will operate,  although display settings shows 5.   It's not an issue with a specific monitor,  its always a different one of the 5 that will not operate depending on what combination of cables, cards and adapters I use.   At this point,  I can only conclude that there is still a problem with the latest DisplayLink Driver that you and other vendors are using with your USB graphics adapter devices.

    Where I left off

ATI Raedon 3000 on-board graphics card.   Driver 15.300.1025.0  11/17/2015   Drives 1 monitor via DVI cable
AMD Raedon HD 7000 graphics card.  Driver 15.300.1025.0  11/17/2015  Drives 2 monitors via HDMI, DVI cables
UV19 EVGA Adapter. Driver 7.9.63.0 10/16/2015 Drives 1 monitor via VGA cable
UV12 EVGA Adapter.  Driver 7.9.63.0 10/16/2015 Drives 1 monitor via VGA cable (5th monitor,  will not work)

Monitors are Samsung SyncMaster 940a with current drivers loaded by Windows 10.
Introducing Diamond and Sabrent USB Graphics Adapters into the equation leads to the same problem.  They too use driver 7.9.63.0 10/16/2015 ... which is loaded by Windows 10.

At one point in this process,  I had all five monitors working.  After I downloaded and installed the Radeon Catalyst software,  all five monitors were working.  Upon reboot of the system,  the problem returns.  I uninstalled the software.  Upon reinstall,  the same thing happened.  Immediately upon installation,  all five monitors work,  upon reboot of the system, a return to the same problem, no 5th monitor.

Please get in touch with the programmers of the DisplayLink driver used for your UV device and let them know they have a problem.   Or post some info as to how I can reach out and let them know about this.

    Problem finally solved.

I removed the ATI Radeon 3000 on-board graphics from the equation... by ... Went into bios and set the Radeon HD 7700 graphics card in PCIe slot as main graphics,  driving two monitors.   Used 3 USB graphics adapters to drive 3 monitors (2 UV,  19+ and 12+,  and 1 Diamond).   Am now able to operate 5 monitors in Windows 10.

It appears that the ATI 3000 on-board graphics with MSI motherboard was the problem.
