I just got an Acer 27inch monitor with gsync.  I have it hooked up to a gtx 780ti windows 8.1.  I also have a hdmi cable going from my hdmi port on the video card to my Onkoyo receiver.  I tried setting the monitor up to "clone" so my mouse pointer wont disappear of the right side.  When I go to the "set up multiple displays" in the Nvidia control panel  and right click on the #1 screen and clone with #2 it fixes the problem.  However I cant use my native resolution of 2560x1440.  It only allows 1920x1080 after cloning the primary monitor.  Am I missing something somewhere?

no the primary is 2560x1440  http://www.amazon.com/Acer-XB270HU-bprz-27-inch-Widescreen/dp/B00UPVXDA8.  My old monitor was Benq 1920x1080 native that connected via DVI cable.  This monitor does not have DVI.  Not sure if that even makes a difference though?

You selected Clone - what monitor did you clone - the Benq 1920x1080 native ?

Cloned Benq 1920x1080 to the NEW Acer 27inch monitor with gsync through the Onkoyo receiver?

What resolution does the Onkoyo receiver support?

Sorry....I think the way I responded confused you.  Im not using the Benq.  I dont have a second monitor.  My video card I guess thinks I have one because I have a hdmi going from vc to audio receiver.  I had this problem when I hooked up my receiver to my card to use the audio from the vc.  I just cloned them I think and it fixed the mouse problem.  If I clone with this monitor it wont allow the 2560x1440 native resolution.

Would it matter though considering I'm using the receiver for audio only?

Answer - Maybe - do not know for sure
    - clone could be limited by the least device resolution - this case the Onkoyo receiver?

    Any who-----------

I thought you were using pass-through the Onkoyo receiver

    PC -----HDMI -----Onkoyo----HDMI-----Acer 27inch monitor - (Not this)-----OK?

    BUT this?

            +----------------------------Acer 27inch monitor
     PC   +
            +-------------HDMI-------Onkoyo

Why not just use the optical audio out from the MB or audio card to an input for the Onkoyo - if sound is your only goal?  Why use the HDMI at all ?

What kind of cable/ port to the Acer 27 from your PC ?

I'll retry the optical again.  I tried it awhile back and could never get sound to come out.  I used HDMI because, well it worked lol.  My old monitor used DVI.  The new Acer uses a Display Port cable

I think I found the problem and sadly there is no fix.  The AV receiver I have is a few years old.  It only has 1080p hdmi passthrough.  Since my new monitor is 1440p it wont allow me to mirror the av receiver (2nd monitor) in 1440p.  Even though Im only using it for audio.  I tried optical but its not true 5.1.  I guess I need a new av receiver with monitor.

Yep, that is what I thought the problem was.

What happens if you do not set-up second monitor (av receiver) ?
Unplug - av unit, setup New 1440p Acer - then add av back into system - but do not change settings

Does your sound have analog output?

I will try that.  I have analog coming out of the back of my sound card (soundblaster Z).  I was looking at a analog to hdmi converter.  I would assume it would still be 5.1.  Here is my onkyo reciever.
