Hi there,

I just finished my first gaming rig & when I booted it the first time this is the error I got - CMOS CHECKSUM ERROR. Press F1 to continue.

MY config
i7-4790K Devil's Canyon / EVGA Z97 Classified / Enermax LIQTECH 240 / 32GB G.Skill Trident X 2400Mhz / EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti HYBRID / SanDisk Extreme PRO 240GB - OS / Kingston HyperX Savage 480GB - Games / WD Black 2TB - Backup / Seasonic SNOW SILENT 1050W / Acer Predator XB270HU / Phanteks Enthoo EVOLV ATX / Razer DeathStalker & DeathAdder / Kingston HyperX Cloud

I've not connected the keyboard, mouse or monitor. I used a Displayport to HDMI cable from the GPU to my 4k TV & booted it the first time. Is my battery dead? This is a brand new motherboard & opened it yesterday for the build.

Need urgent help. Thanks,
Paul

Try loading the BIOS default values by clearing the CMOS or flash your BIOS to the latest version using a USB flash drive formatted to FAT32. The battery should not be dead this early in its life but they are readily available almost anywhere including places like Walmart.

Verify your CMOS battery is seated correctly and reboot to BIOS.  Verify your date & time is set correctly.  If the issue persists, change your CMOS battery and try again.

Since you just built the PC  - the change is RAM status will throw that code - you change the amount of system RAM from 0 to what ever you installed.

This is normal if you change what is plugged into the MB.

Just F1 enter BIOS, save to update info and enjoy your PC after reboot.

Yeah completely normal. It can also happen on a BIOS update or if you switch between bioses

Exactly, I see it on almost every board I test either the first power on, after a BIOS update, or after a change in CPU/RAM.  I have gotten it also from a OC that failed HARD too, go into BIOS save and exit, no biggie.
