Alright, I purchased another 5960x recently.  My original and this one were both the same sort of IHS.  Very sharp on the edge of the IHS and they had a scratched look to the lockdown tabs as well as what looked like some nickel running down the sides of the IHS.
 
Well, I received a brand new one directly from Intel and it is slightly different.  The Scratches on the lockdown tabs are completely gone, the nickel running down the sides is gone, and the sharp edge is now rounded as well as the IHS looking smoother over all around the edges.
 
Do you think Intel Listened to the complaints of the end user and had the IHS reaccomplished?

It looks much cleaner and much better.  I am going to try to test it out on the x99 classified and then move it into the RVE as my primary CPU.

Interested if your X99 Classified works any better with this CPU.

I am actually at the pc testing it right now.

It should run cooler with that 'textured' finish rather than the machined groove marks in the IHS.
