This is my configuration and cost 150$ more... You have i7-6700K instead i5-6600K Maximus VIII Hero instead ASUS Z170 Deluxe Trident Z 3000MHz QVL instead Ripjaws V 2400 non QVL ASUS GTX980Ti Strix OC 1200MHz instead EVGA GTX980Ti SC 1100MHz Most important part is i7-6700K, Maximus VIII Hero and QVL Trident Z Memory. ASUS graphic card cost same as EVGA only have 100MHz better clock, if you think that better technical support on USA territory is more important you can keep EVGA GTX980Ti SC, that change nothing in price because their price are same. https://pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/ Before 5-6 months I would choose EVGA, now ASUS. But technical support and fast resolving problems mean lot to many people, special in USA where EVGA pay attention on their customers. Only ASUS have faster card and better cooling, it's not reference PCB as EVGA.

Blank page.... http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/ Really you can't open...??? Weird... There are GSKILL Trident Z 3000MHz 2x8 for 105$ but that memory is with higher latency and it's not QVL. And Skylake with new memory controller could show little better results with 3000MHz compare to 2400MHz memory... Maybe is even better to stay on Skylake platform 4 cores with HT Link will be OK for games... i7-5820K have other advantages but for games for now not and you could save little in power bill, if he choose Skylake, better to stay Skylake only much better. I even hear that soon developers will recommend nothing less than i7 for newer games as best configuration... But if customer want it's possible to build nice X99 platform for same price with 4x4GB memory (Quad Channel), Intel with 6 cores, some nice MSI X99 USB 3.1 board not expensive, or some ASUS X99A-USB 3.1 or X99S-USB 3.1...Depend what he like more.

No Devil Cannon. That's past and he shouldn't look on back. Intel Z170 or eventually X99 platform are much better support for fast new M.2 drivers in future and overclocked i7-6700K will work better in multi applications than i7-4790K... It's not good to buy older platform only because CPU have highest Turbo and than it's same as i7-6700K. Later Intel will launch i7-6790K and what than...DDR4 cost same as DDR3, motherboard cost similar. Now is time of Z170 and X99. Maybe owners of Z97 don't have reason to upgrade now because next year will be something better and their platform is strong, but when someone invest 1700-1800$ he should buy real gaming PC with all newest parts on market. That's i7-6700K and GTX980Ti 6GB and he will play 3-4 years with that PC and after that he will be useful for many things on not for newest games in highest resolution and details. It's not same when you say now I still have DDR3 and for 2 years when you say I still have DDR3. Man invest now and he choose right platform for gaming. For work is maybe better X99 but Z170 is excellent newest and better investing in Z170 than Z97 anyway. Z97 and Z87 are very similar, that's old platform, 8 PCI-E lanes Gen 2, Z170 have 20 PCI-E lanes Gen 3, much wider possibility for different devices. Everything build in next 3-4 years will fit much better on Z170 than Z97, even USB 3.1 support, that's 100% faster transfer than USB 3.0.

OK that's good reason, EVGA treat USA really good. If something happen with card and store and manufacturer will help. He ask for advice here, they will ask him simple question about problem, send ling for RMA request and he will send card and get other. They will no chat days and weeks with technical support only to try all stupid things and than wait 20-25 days for replacement. Only really important things are i7-6700K and Maximus VIII Hero and that supported GSkill Trident Z. That's not only my personal choice, for that money 90% of people will choose same. No reason to pay 300$ for some Deluxe motherboard and i5 when cheaper motherboard and better Processor is better options. Special because Hero is attractive and good board and many people like ROG series. I don't Hero is better than Deluxe... It's not, but it's not worse.

He should really dump the Seagate drive and get a Western Digital Blue or Black drive instead, preferably the Black would be a better match with a SSD and has a better warranty. The Seagate drives just aren't as reliable as the Western Digital drives and have pretty short warrantys. I like the Hitachi's drives myself and they seem to have excellent reliability. I have a couple much older Deskstars that are still working well and I know a lot of OEMS used them in their products, like Iomega, and their warrantys are as good as WD's, so you don't have to be too leery of them if you want to give them a shot too. Also, CoolerMaster has some refurb cases for cheap at their store heres one that's a full tower: http://www.cmstore-usa.com/cm-storm-trooper-gaming-full-tower-computer-case-refurbished/ Good luck with his build man! \m/

Yes but they cost more I think, I didn't want to price go up. I'm always for WD Black SATA III before anything else. I never use HDD except Western Digital and Matrox before more than 10 years. That would be AMAZING BUILD. With increasing frequency of i7-6700K on 4.5GHz he become better CPU than i7-4790K on 4.4GHz Turbo. And for i7-6700K that's only 300MHz and probably lot of CPU will work with default voltage or 1.150V, 50mV increase. Amazing build.

Never mind, if he like new case with window it's OK. Obsidian 750D is nice case for that price, how much 100$? That's OK case, people in Europe pay 150 euro usually for that case. You can help them to install hardware in case.

Excellent choices and prices. You can't go wrong with GSkill memory. GSkill is always my first choice and they never let me down.
