Re: EVGA PrecisionX 16 5.2.0 bug report thread... 2014/10/18 06:01:35 (permalink)
MAIN ISSUES:
Operating System Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit. Using an EVGA 980 SC reference model, 2 x 1080p 120hz monitors in extended desktop.
Windows explorer crashes upon exit of some games ( Divinity Original Sin).
Skype shuts down upon exit of some games.
Nvidia DSR seems to not work very well with 5.2.3, Divinity Original sin crashes and has cursor problems frequently when using DSR
If I use windows media player (even with it blocked in the evga server) it will cause issues in firefox and task manager. parts of the GUI disappear in task manager.

There is an option. It's just that "FONT SIZE KEYBOARD LCD" setting of "Small Font" ends up not working, and instead just shows the same as "Medium Font".
I really hope they fix this bug. I feel like a grandpa, staring at these huge fonts on my keyboard... and I'm unable to see all the GPU vitals that I want to see.

Note: This is the 5.2.0 bug thread. You should be posting in the 5.2.3 bug thread, since that's the latest version. And, no this particular issue is not fixed yet, ugh.

Come on eVGA -- You can do better!

EVGA PrecisionX 16 5.2.0 BUG - MS Office 2013 32/64bit 2014/10/29 08:47:34 (permalink)
Problem/Bug
EVGA PrecisionX 16 (all versions) have a major bug if you're running Microsoft Office 2013 32bit or 64bit. All Office 2013 applications use Graphical Hardware Acceleration. If EVGA Precision X is running in the background it will cause major application rendering instabilities. I personally have experienced the issue in Excel, PowerPoint and MS Word using MS Office 2013 64bit. These bugs occur with OSD (on screen display) disabled.

Solution
It took me days of troubleshooting Nvidia Drivers and my MS Office Installation, but I eventually discovered the culprit and found a temporary workaround
1) In the system tray open EVGA Precision Server
2) Add all office and any other non-game applications (that use graphical hardware acceleration) to the list of exe files (this will exclude the applications from PrecisionX monitoring)

Request
EVGA, can you please add all commonly used graphical hardware accelerated applications to your exclude list by default?
MS Office 2013 32 and 64bit exe files
All Adobe Creative Cloud Applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash, Premiere, After Effects etc.)
Any others that you know of which use hardware acceleration for interface and canvas rendering.
OR do the reverse, and instead of having an "Exclude List" just have an "Include List". Include the most popular games by default and prompt the user to add any additional games upon installation. This way the Precision won't cause issues with any productivity applications.

Tried this version for OSD capabilities without needing riva tuner, started up a game, the game crashed instantly because it created over 150 processes (saw it in the task manager) named "precisionx server" ... I can handle small bugs, but not something that skyrockets my CPU usage. I'm not gonna use this version just yet until that gets fixed

after you bring up the graph page, then close it, it will not come back again.

i wish I would have never upgraded to x 16.  the older versions were so much easier to use and a lot less buggy.

nvm: found my old 4.2.1 download which is pretty much the best version ever.  installing now.

Well, I just installed the EVGA PrecisionX 16 5.2.7 and I have to say, it's garbage...
In Far Cry 4 I have graphics artifacts. In Dragon Age Inquisition, if I alt+tab I cannot get the game up again. In Hearthstone the game cursor disappear and when I play some *.mkv in windows media player the windows taskbar is ****ed up and that is just few things I have tested.
In all cases if I disable the OSD by putting the program to precisionxserver.cfg exclude list (yes, I have to do it manually, because I cannot see the icon for the "precisionxserver" in taskbar, that is broken too) all works fine.
Everything was also fine with my old Precision X version 4.2.1
Navigating in the option menu is just pain, I would give anything for the old menu! It's like 9 year old came up with it... it is made only to look good but the usability and efficiency is ZERO.
Anyway unless the OSD is fixed, I mean remade to work properly I am uninstalling this crap. I can live with the **** option menu, since I have to setup it just once but I would suggest to change that too.

I can also confirm the bug in PrecisionX 16 through at least 5.3.1 (including 5.2.0 discussed in this thread) that causes rendering issues in Office 2013 64-bit.  I had revert to EVGA Precision X 4.2.1 to solve the issue.

Did a "clean" build of Windows10 and have this same issue.  Not sure how to follow the Solution as I am not following the steps used to add exe to exclude (where is this??).  I only see the server running in task manager (and I see both the 64bit and 32bit versions running for some reason).

Re: EVGA PrecisionX 16 5.2.0 BUG - MS Office 2013 32/64bit 2015/08/12 16:26:17 (permalink)
I'll just add my 2 cents here. I play WoW, EverQuest II, Rift, & quite a few other MMORPG's. My gpu is an EVGA GeForce 650Ti, 2gd5. It's a great card, but I recently discovered that the onboard fan controller is well... crap. The gpu hit nearly 200F under stress test & the fan managed to creep up to a whopping 27% at the 5 minute mark. I quit the test because I didn't want it to burn up, but immediately started trying to figure out how to make that fan run faster when the gpu is heating up. I found this program, downloaded/installed/ran it (3 days ago) & was unable to even launch EQII afterward. It simply quit to desktop with no error messages. Finally figured it out when my husband, who does NOT have this program, installed EQII to his machine & logged into my account. I turned off the PrecisionX & voila! EQII launched just fine, but crashed as soon as I turned PrecisionX back on. I had to go to the other program that's been mentioned a few times in these forums, but I'd prefer to run yours simply because you also made my card. Maybe that doesn't matter so much in the grand scheme of things, but it just seems like it should. Perhaps your devs could talk to some of these game companies & find out what it is about your program that causes their games to see it as bad juju & not allow launch?

Just an FYI, I am having some overheating issues with my computer (of which I believe an overheating video card is only part & we are working on what we believe are other causes), which is why I was trying so hard to launch EQII as the issues happen more consistently with that game than with WoW or Borderlands 2. I did not try to launch those while I was using the PrecisionX, but from what I've read in other threads they likely would have also crashed. I did NOT have the in-game display part of the program running either.

Mouse cursor disappears, software ends up hogging resources. It's a shame because the software itself is very clean.

I can run the steam version, but I only tried that because the newest is not working very well and I wanted to
see if the steam version was the same problem.

I can click on the icon on the taskbar, and then if I hover over it, I see the PX above it. I can click MOVE but
that does not work.  I cant ever get to see the full size actual window of Precision X on my screen.  HELP !

I have GTX960 ssc 4gb and all this problems were tested with my old GTS450FPB too.
I have many problems with the last update. The biggest one is when i use ALT+TAB function in windows 10, my screen gone black, and my monitor show a message : (640*480 @75hz).
My native resolution is 1920*1080 @60hz. and the problem only appears in full screen games.
My mouse cursor dissapears too in full screen games.
My desktop flashes once when the presicion its closed.
I tried reinstalling windows, drivers and games, and the problem isnt fixed.
After close presicion everything seems to work well.
PD: sorry for my english.

Confirmed the major bug, too.

Windows 10 x64/10240 or 10586 zh-TW
Office 2016/2013 x64 zh-TW (365 version)

Whenever I swtiched to other application and returned to the working screen of the office applications,
the office screen stopped responding or display something abnormal.

All the words has key-ined would show after saving and reopening the working file.
This problem can be recreated in word/excel/powepoint....

Confirmed the situation after turned on the Precision X 16 with OSD disabled.
This is a serious bug and request for a fix immediatedly.

I have a bug, the second graphics cards fan will not spin up until you select it within the precision x GUI, I think I may have damaged the card because of this.

On my 680 the screen capture used to work way back a great number of versions ago at the very beginning of X16. Every version after that screen capture failed. I used to use ctrl+alt+z key configuration. I used that configuration on the newest version and it still does not work. Used other key configurations still fails.

I have hundreds of precisionxserver.exe in my taskmanager all with different PID. Even after I close precision x so neither it nor the server show in the taskbar.
