Since Russia got involved in Syria I've been paying more attention to the news and checking YouTube for any new news on the battlefront. Today I came across this strange video @YouTube that I thought was very professionally produced, very spooky, and almost game like. For anyone playing World of Tanks, this might interest you. ******* WARNING: VIDEO CONTAINS DISTURBING FOOTAGE ******* Note: Video Produced By _ RUSSIAWORKS.RU (Avmp. Sputnik) ..."Mine Flies Straight Into The Camera"

Yeah, I've been wondering about that too. Maybe a good part of the modern Russian military is made up of gamers and they have a flare for making impressionable videos?

I re-watched the video and started seeing a possible new landscape for the next S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game since GSC seems to be back in action.

I've had some further thoughts about the implication of this video, and so...the destruction shown in the video happened long before the Russians arrived which explains the refugee crisis now going on. It seems Turkey played a big role in helping to create this tragedy, but Turkey has not been the sole actor. The refugees fled to Turkey because that was their only option and now Turkey is trying to push them out. It seems like it would be better if Turkey, and its Western and Arab allies, could work together to try to take care of the refugees in Turkey so that one day they can return home. Update: 10-26-15_ I've recently been playing the game "The Vanishing of Ethan Carter Redux" (A Remake using the Unreal Engine 4) which, I think, is a great game. It's part adventure, part detective, and the graphics are some of the best I've seen in a video game. Being in a detective state of mind I keep looking into this Syria business. I noticed in the video that the name of Jobar was shown so I looked up Jobar at Wikipedia and what I found was something I have not heard of before. The story keeps getting deeper.

I agree with you mostly, but the solution is political, guns and ammo only make things worse. Update: 10-26-15_ On further thought, if the West and it's Arab allies quit funneling arms and weapons to Iraq and Syria, maybe we could have this ISIS situation figured out in two months or less.

Javelin is better than TOW, ad it is fire and forget rather than wire guided. No heads put at risk after bring fired, and it is deadly accurate when it works.

I did not know that. I wonder if those are in play? Update: 10-26-15_ The FGM-148 JAVELIN at Wikipedia Update: 10-26-15_ Interesting you mention about the wire. In some TOW videos I watched at YouTube, I kept seeing two wires, but I wasn't sure. That seems rather old school. Somebody must be off-loading old stock.

Thanks for the link. I watched a couple of videos from that site and I couldn't help but laugh when I saw the ISIS Anti-Aircraft weapon, the "Condom-Bomb". One needs to laugh these days. Update: 10-27-15_ While the Condom-Bomb is a novel idea and it could work, it seems like one would have to release 10,000 of them every 3 minutes to really work.

XrayMan Next COD game. Awesome.
When I built my first computer, back in '08 with a young friend, is when I first became interested in video games. I did pick up a hard copy of COD2 on sale and gave it a try on single player and kind of liked it, but, on the advice from my young friend, I switched over to Half Life and really liked that. I'm mostly a solo player, and have not gotten into online games. I need to revisit COD2 and finish the single player option, now that I'm more experienced. Update: 10-28-15_ Correction: I have played Left 4 Dead and Borderlands online with friends.

I can't wait for VR to get here_ Update: 10-29-15_ OK, now I understand what your saying in your second sentence. Yeah, it would be fun to try to shoot down drones, but I'm afraid those men are more worried about getting there heads shot off by a tank. I also wonder about the sounds on the battlefield and maybe they can't hear the drones. It seems to me if I was out in a squad I'd want to have at least one Drone Sharpshooter Spotter on the team...eyes on. Drones are a scary weapon as they can pinpoint enemy locations. That drone must have some kind of a steady cam on board as the quality is unreal.

I just re-watched your link to the original video and it is "no longer available due to a copyright claim by BMG Rights Management ", which is owned by Sony and the 4th largest in the world. It seems the music is owned by someone else, but I'm having a hard time understanding how anyone would create such music. In the past I've made videos of some of my game playing and posted them on YouTube and one time I had a video infraction with a warning and probation. How the heck is YouTube watching all the videos being posted and knowing what's good and what's bad? The original link in my first post still seems to work. Update: 10-29-15_ I watched a couple of other videos from that site and one was of Ukraine. Why don't we see that kind of footage on our TV news? Are they afraid we might not like the sight of war? Update: 10-29-15_ I watched this other video from that site and it shows another part of Syria in a mountainous region. The video shows an ancient castle on top of a hill and I suspect it is a heritage site. Fortunately it hasn't sustained too much damage. The quality of these videos is unreal. Whoever makes them is very professional and has learned his craft well. I bet he is under contract with the Russians to be a war correspondent.

OK, final bump, I promise. I found this article by The New York Times about the video "Mines Fly Straight Into The Camera", and now I understand the nature of the music used in the video, and why Sony jumped on it. The song is called "High Roller" (YouTube) by a couple of musicians out of Las Vegas called The Crystal Method (Wikipedia) and they are high rollers with a large resume of making music for movies and games. I looked up the lyrics to High Roller and the music is about Apollo 8. The producer of the video heavily edited the lyrics to fit the video, and they should have gotten permission from those in charge before using the music.
