I have been experiencing some in-game issues lately and am trying to narrow down the problem. As a general question, can a power supply cause in-game instability such as:
-intermittent freezes (paired with sound stutters)
-slight stuttering (despite high fps / low ping)

I have NOT had any games crash or system crash with this power supply so I'm leaning towards believing the psu is okay. But then again I've replaced nearly all other components in my system (as well as 6 months of trying to solve the problem).

Here is my current psu :
EVGA SuperNOVA 850 B2 80+ BRONZE

Thanks

Yes, it's possible. Have you tried any older gpu drivers? Do the issues occur in all games?

    Hey Sajin,

Thank you for your quick reply! I have tried many different gpu drivers with the same result. More or less it does happen in all games I play.

I may order up a new psu just to test it, can always return it through Amazon if need be..

No problem. Sounds like a plan.

Outside of correct drivers/windows updates, what would you look at to try and solve the issue based on the problems I'm experiencing?

I'd try running all my hardware at default speeds without any overclocks, I would check my psu voltages at idle & under load (won't mention how to do so here since you're gonna replace the psu with a different one), I'd check for overheating & make sure all fans are spinning including the psu fan, & I would perform a clean boot of windows to insure that no other software is causing the issue. I run my computer in a clean boot state 24/7 without any issues, I highly recommend you run your system in a clean boot state 24/7 as well.

NOTE: a clean boot of windows ins't reinstalling windows.

I've tested with stock clocks / speeds as well as overclocking my system a bit. Also tried reinstalling windows. My system runs fairly cool as well so that isn't an issue thankfully.

I remember testing the issue by closing background programs while gaming with no luck, but I haven't performed a clean boot yet. I will definitely give that a shot.

    Thank you!!

Did you replace the TIM on the CPU recently, maybe the CPU heatsink is a bit too tight.

I would avoid bronze rated power supplies for high end gaming system. If you do end up "testing" a new PSU, make sure it's silver or higher rating.
