when i did my latest install (clean) i did not put in the act key and somehow it activated without it?
even after wiping the ssds, i think its encoded on the disk i made with the installation media

No, it's going to wait till it's completely updated and you have installed gigs and gigs of games and then it's going to decide that your install is invalid and lock you out. Then, it will auto notify your mom about all the sites you have been browsing and install Windows 10 on her old XP system whether she likes it or not. There will be a pop up , "Get Office 365." She will click that and inevitably it will cause Microskynetsoft to become self-aware at 2:14 a.m. Eastern time. In a panic, they try to pull the plug. I was supposed to come back and warn everyone on one of these Windows 10 threads but I got lazy and I am sick of this planet anyway.

Not a bad move, I just hope there are no issues a year or two down the road when you build a new system or get a different chipset motherboard back form RMA.....
