While analyst groups cannot agree on how much Apple Mac sales have fallen, they seem to agree that Mac growth is down and is at a two-year low. Both IDC and Gartner report declines in Mac unit sales, with 3.4% and 1.5% declines reported respectively.   Link

People aren't upgrading lately because they see no need to do so

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

I believe with the power of the ARM processor getting closer to parity with x86 based CPUs the lines are going to blur as to the reasoning why there is merit in going Mac OS vs iOS soon. I think in due time iOS will be capable of everything Mac OS is, making the Macintosh a legacy device for a majority of it's users. I believe that can already account for the slip in sales numbers.

Mac sales are probably low because the graphics cards on PC are far superior. Also, they are not innovating enough. They just play it safe.

Good work!  Resurrect a dead, six year old thread, containing information that was OBE five years ago and commenting on it.

Think this may change with the new M1 and the products being put out now. It has been hard to go to the store with all that has been going on, hope business picks back up over at apple.

I can't imagine buying a Mac again.  The idea that you need apple to create music or videos doesn't make sense anymore.  There are so many good PC based creative tools nowadays!  AND you can game :)

Is their new M1 processor inside desktop Macs at all or just mainly the Macbooks? I feel like the ration between those 2 products being marketed for it was unbalanced, so less people just stopped buying Macs for the time being

The MAC Mini's have the M1 but the Imacs/Mac Pro do not have them AFAIK.

The base iMac now has an M1 along with the, iPad Pro, Mac Mini, Macbook Air and 13 inch Pro. There is supposedly going to eventually be a M1X CPU that will make its way to all Macbook Pro lines, a higher performance Mac Mini and all iMacs. Then in some point in the future there will be an M2. I think the slump in Mac sales coincides with many current users seeing where Apple will go with the own CPU line and also the apps become more optimized for it or how well Rosetta will do. Another crucial thing is how Apple will handle the loss of running Windows x86-64 through Bootcamp. Perhaps they will go with a virtual machine and consider streaming for games?

I think the growth of Imacs is coused by the pandemic, becouse people are upgrading their home computers because many are workin at home
