Is anyone else having issues going to sleep automatically?

I can force the machine to sleep without any problems--but when I set the "put computer to sleep in 5 minutes" setting, it doesn't do anything. I've checked power cfg and nothing is stopping it. This of course started when I moved to Windows 10 from 7. I originally did upgrade, and then a full fresh install when I upgraded my SSD--problem continues to exist.

    Yeah, I don't know if it's our motherboard or overall--every time I google for it I get a ton of Windows 10 preview threads which are useless.

    I have had this issue since Win 8.1. Rebooting the machine fixes it as far as I can tell.

    I don't know how long it takes but if I go to bed and awake the next morning, it goes to sleep. Tonight I left it on and went out to eat dinner with the family. 3 hours later the PC was still active and only the monitor went to sleep. I just checked my Power Settings in control panel and it is set for 2 hours to sleep. I am wondering if certain situations will prevent this like a pending system update?

    Sleep issues in Win 10 manifest across multiple platforms, not just custom/EVGA. Usually, I've learned that power options in win 10 are more user-specific than machine-specific. Try recreating a brand new LOCAL (non-online) account and test.

    My problem currently is that it takes around 20-30 seconds to reach a halt state from the moment I manually initiate the sleep command. I have 2 x 1 TB HDDs in RAID 1 and an Intel SSD, but that's irrelevant to the issue as it was happening before I built the RAID. Here is a rough sequence of what's happening:

    1. Press Sleep button;
    2. Monitor goes dark as normal;
    3. Can hear HDDs slowing down to a stop;
    4. Immediately after, just as if something is "calling" them, the HDDs initialize again until platters reach operational velocity;
    5. Sits around 10-15 seconds with intermittent HDD activity and then halts abruptly.

    Can anyone make sense of that? Where to start? :)

    Here is something I have had some success with, used it in W7 and just used it now on my W10 test bench.

    Open a command prompt as administrator
    type in powercfg -energy
    It takes about a minute to run and it will give you an HTML file, this is usually a good place to start to see what it is that is waking your system.  Does not always give you everything you need to fix it, but I have found that more often than not it gets you going again or at least in the right direction.

    Sounds like the memory contents are being cached to the swap file before lights out. Shouldn't have to do that with as much memory as you have.

    Hmm... Never thought about pagefile. I'll do some tests and take an energy report as well...  Thanks guys!
