I am curious. Anyone folding with a GTX 960 and what the PPD is on that card?

Somewhere around 165k depending on WU @ 1475

Thanks Bill.

The GTX 670 is folding pretty well. AIDA64 shows max the card only using 72% TDP while folding.

Although Newegg has a EVGA 960 Refurb for only $50 more then what I paid for the GTX 670.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487153

Thinking about getting one of those for less power consumption and sell the GTX 670 now lol.

Looking at the specs on the 960 I didn't think they would fold as well as Bill posted, so I never looked at buying one. It uses a lot less power then the 670.

Kram, I just ordered a GTX970 from the B-stock section.
Their around 100$ cheaper than new ones. Only a year warranty, but most things that have gone bad is right after I buy them or they are DOA.
They fold real well and they game real well. Would use less power than the 670.
Sell the 670 and the other cards and go for it. Set it up and forget about it.

I just looked. You must have got the last one, it's out of stock now.

This is the card I bought http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127685

I'm running it at it's stock clocked speeds, but this is what Afterburner shows it running at while folding on the current wu.

Although I have not seen it boost that high on other wu's. The current wu seems to be giving the card a good workout.

TDP went up with this wu too. Normally it's around 72%

Odd the way Folding works. This wu requires less core boost and uses less power, but gets a higher PPD.

Core boost 1189, only 72% TDP max and of course the card is running cooler.

I have a Titan X in my main rig. This is what it's is currently getting and I've been watching youtube vids and browsing the web. Not bad for a single card, but I didn't buy this $900 card to folding with. The v7 client I use to monitor my GTX 670 always starts this card folding when I open the client after I have closed it, so I let it finish the wu. I have the HC bios installed on it so it has a bit of an oc compared to a normal Titan X, but this is at stock clocks of the HC bios.

Thanks Bill,

Do you have a picture of this? I'm not exactly sure where and how to make this change.

Think I might have figured this out. Does this look right?

Went to the gas station and came back, here is what the Titan X shows on PPD for a short time of me not messing around on my main rig toyking22.

I think that worked Bill. I'm not sure though. I added the flag, paused my client, closed the client, opened it back up and it stayed paused. Doesn't it normally start folding even though you had it on pause, then closed and open it back up?

Don't think a GTX 460 SC is going to make the cut lol. Although I've been logging into this system via remote desktop (card is in my file server) since I can't get HFM.NET or the Fah client to connect to it. Also found out Fahmon doesn't support v7 clients either.

So, it looks like the card to get would be a used GTX 670, cheap, not too power hungry and should do more then 55k PPD for someone wanting to hit the EVGA Folding Bucks mark, but you would have to run that card pretty much 24/7 until you hit the mark. Since I have a file server running 24/7 I figure why not toss a card in it. I don't want a card that's going to eat a ton of electricity or cost a lot to purchase and seems the GTX 670 would be that card?

Wow, I'm surprised the 460 gets that much!!!  If the fans on mine hadn't died, I'd pull it out & start folding on it as well.

One of the high-end 660 (non-Ti variety) folding 24/7 should hit the mark, & considering I'm staring at 101Kppd from a single 660Ti (WU 9412), I would say 660Ti = sweetspot for 600 series, nearly identical ppd to 670, slightly lower power usage, & should easily hit 1.5m without 24/7 folding for lower monthly electricity cost vs. the non-Ti variety.

But, the real value is probably the GTX 950, starting at $150 &  F @ H benchmarks say up to 46% faster (implicit) than the GTX 760 in Folding @ Home.  Unfortunately, I don't have the $$$ to get one for testing & when I do, I'll just save up a bit more $$$ to get a GTX970   Even though theoretically, two 950's outperform one 970 in folding for the same or less initial cost.  I've never gone in for SLI gaming & that's my primary reason for an add-in video card.

EDIT: in case anyone's wondering... my card settings:

I'm pretty happy with the GTX 960 I got for $160 after MIR. Both cards at stock clock speeds.

The GTX 670 hangs in there pretty well too.

$160 for a 960  I haven't seen any 960 that low, even after sales & rebates.

[crosses fingers]There's a 50/50 chance I'll be picking up a GTX 970 ACX2.0 FTW this Friday, so I can finally do some quality gaming at native 2560x1600 resolution.... and get a few more points for folding!!!

It must have been a special sale when I got it as Newegg raised the price back to $200 minus the MIR = $180 now.

Newegg does a lot of great 24hr sales like that, unfortunately, I almost never have the $$$ to take advantage when I see one I want or need
