Sure...when you offer it for free and it autoupdates your Win7 (which happened to me...) I'm not surprised.

Personally I think win10 is complete (redacted). That's just me, however.

I think ball cancer has stats similar. I think I would rather have the ball cancer. I think some of those numbers are the way they are because people don't know any better or were not offered a choice.

I think most of those installs were on new laptops and desktops that haven't been sold yet.

Yep. I known people that tryed Windows 10. After a week, they reverted to windows 7. I think that their "intalls" count for Microsoft, but their "unistalls" not, lol.

RJ, let me say I do appreciate the news stuff you post, don't take my distaste for Win10 as a slam on you..it is not.

At any rate, I found 10 to be annoying..and too intrusive...too many things to turn off to make it viable for me. I want to turn
tiles OFF, not just hide them. I despise(d) metro. I have a PC, not a tablet or phone.

+1, I wholeheartedly agree with you 100%. It is the most annoying OS I have ever encountered other than Vista which takes the top slot in the 'The World's Worst Operating Systems' category.

10 can't be that bad if the Steam community is upgrading as fast as they are.
The people that are unhappy scream the loudest.
Metro was BRILIANT! They went there too fast. If they released 10 in 2010, then 8 in 2018-2020, it would have went way better. One of the reason why I have a Windows Phone is because I can have as little or as much on my Start screen, and similarly with 8.
Don't get me wrong, there was flaws in 8 but they could have changed them for the better.
And you people complaining that Vista was the worst OS ever, 7 was made from Vista.

I can see why Steam users would want to upgrade just to be able to sync with their XBox: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/windows-10

LJ, Metro is garbage to me. Stop treating my i7 like a tablet, thanks.

It's all subjective. I hate it, you like it.

and I'm not screaming, I Just won't use it. At some point I probably won't be able to use PC's at all because the OS's will all be
spyware and I won't use them.

With that line of reasoning, maybe they can make Windows 11 that fixes everything that sucks with Windows 10 like Vista to 7. I can see why there are so many installs. It's free and things like DX12 sound great and it's not like they are exactly being passive about 10, they are downright shoving it down everyone's face. I mean, it installs on it's own unless you disable the update as well as nags the corner of your desktop so yeah, I can see those figures. I was dumb enough to do it on a laptop. It's not like I hate it so much that I am going to roll back but I can't seem to bring to mind anything that I like better than 7. The welcome screen?

Yes, metro is brilliant for a mobile, touch interface. Not a desktop with mouse, keys, and other assorted controllers. As far as the Steam community moving to it slowly, but surely, imo, its because of all the talk about dx12 and its benefits and people want to move to 10 to get that while its free. That's besides the forced update to it and all the oem systems that its going on. Id say their rollout isn't as good as it looks and, if they could, id really like to see what the uninstalls numbers are.

Agreed, tried it on a laptop that came with Windows 8.1 and was not impressed. It's not bad but it would be a downgrade for my desktop since they removed features I actually use.

I wasn't that interested in computers back then. I actually used to be young and agile enough to have a life and earn a living. My employers had Windows 95 and Windows 98 that they let me use to print documents but that is the only experience that I had with Windows until I bought a laptop from Walmart that had Vista on it that was touted as the best OS on the planet. My, oh my!

Windows 10, well you either like it or hate it. At least you can turn off a lot of reporting if you want and the tiles you can resize also.

Windows 10 on the other hand has DX12 so when DX12 supported game titles comes out that is what you'll need to play those games.

"Don't know better"..sounds about right for most people...I doubt RJ falls into that though.
    He just likes the OS.

I've never known anything other than Microsoft and think they develope some fine software and operating systems with some notable exceptions like ME and Vista. RJ is being brainwashed with MS propaganda since becoming one of the Microsoft Insider Program testers though, lol.

Yep. I known people that tryed Windows 10. After a week, they reverted to windows 7. I think that their "intalls" count for Microsoft, but their "unistalls" not, lol.

That's too bad because i believe Windows 10 is just as good as Windows 7 if not better

It's just garbage to me >.<

I still have a few points of contact in Microsoft so I have relayed your concerns to them

Well when it comes to operating systems I like something or I don't.

I am indeed testing insider builds and I relay my feedback to Microsoft. So far things are fine. Presently on build 10547.

Until all that spying BS goes away and someone figures it out on how to remove it, I will be sitting on windows 7 like the happy camper I am....

No, there is no realway to remove the telemetry spying in windows 10, it is a placebo effect and also Microsoft is forcing things for people in windows 10. The telemetry is maybe hard coded into the os from what I been reading.

Probably because it's RJ's thread. Anyone gets out of line in his thread... well you know what I mean.
